GPU Folding Client not pausing

Thread Starter
Hello ye gods of Folding. tongue.gif

I game, work, and fold on my sig rig. The problem is, the GPU client refuses to pause when I tell it to. I leave Afterburner running at all times to monitor the temps and GPUcore voltage, and I notice that even after right-clicking the tray icon and selecting PAUSE, the GPU stays at 99% usage. I've set the checkpoint time to 3 minutes and left it sitting here for about ten minutes now. In the tray, the icon changes to the PAUSE icon and does not accumulate points, but my Fermi is still red hot and pegged at 99% usage. I don't want to totally close down the client every time I want to play a game (or have some peace and quiet) lest I lose all my progress, but I'm kind of wondering if it'll ever pause. Any thoughts?

Respectfully,

coachmark2

What happens if you Right Click on the GPU slot in FAHControl and tell it to pause from there?

Can you post a log file including the system info/config section inside of spoiler tags?

Is this the 480 that we are talking about? What GPU drivers are you running? I remember that not being able to pause was a problem with very old NV drivers.

Thanks for the prompt reply. In the control panel, all I have are three tabs. Connection, Advanced and User.

Attached is the log file.

oh the old v6 client, last I used that it just didn't like to pause any of my NV GPUs either. I'd reccomend upgrading to the latest v7 client.

Ah yeah. Complete current WUs and upgrade to 7.3.6.

There will be a slider bar where you can drag it from Full (max performance) to Medium and it will pause the GPU for you to game on.

Thanks for the advice guys. Unfortunately, the v7 client and my college's firewall hate eachother. Back to v6 I go....

It's not too bad, just a minor annoyance.

On a side note, what do you guys think a GTX 480 @ 750mhz core could do for PPD?
