Temash Dual/Quad Core APU for Tablets, will simply run over Tegra4 when it comes to a CPU and GPU performance it is a fact without any doubts. wink.gif

The important question is can Temash match it at same TDP ?

17w ivy bridge in microsoft surface pro is much faster any other ARM chips. However, the TDP is also much higher.

Silvermont will need to be much, and I mean, MUCH faster than current gen Atoms to beat Jaguar. Remember that Bobcat literally trounces the current gen ones.

Bocat doesn't trounce than current gen ones unless your are talking about GPU only

Atom D2700 is faster E-450 in many cases when it comes to CPU performance

Hmm... AMD appears to be doing a lot of positive work in both the GPU and CPU sides of the company...

Now might be a good time to take another look at their stock. They appear to finally be getting a footing.

You should look up their HSA roadmap if you really want to get excited. Really cool stuff in theory. Unfortunate I believe by the time programs take advantage of that type of architecture Intel will have their own implementation, but who knows.

Between Intel's consistent processor gains, super-fast GPUs, ARM, AMD's HSA, it's going to be very interesting to see how computing evolves in the next 5-10 years.

It's cheap, certainly.

It's hard to get a gauge on how financially sound they'll be 5 years down the road, though. Yeah, HSA looks great on paper, they're paying off a lot of their debt, they have console wins, and the consoles, I think, are an especially big break for them; all next-gen games will run very well on AMD processors simply because the console versions of games will be heavily optimized for AMD's hardware. I've maintained for a while that I think RR was a great CEO pick, and my gut's still telling me the same thing.

On the other hand, AMD still has a lot of internal systemic problems; if you look at Glassdoor, lots of the employee reviews are negative, especially when asked about senior management, and many think that the company will be in worse shape down the road. Although you get headlines regarding long-time senior execs leaving, the company still has 3x the amount of people at the VP level that Intel does, and a lot of the people that are left aren't the most popular. Hard to tell if these complaints are FUD spread by stock shorters, authentic but made by serial complainers who lack vision, or actual honest assessments.

If I had to make a one-phrase summary, I would say "risky value play".

And what makes you think that those are going to be faster than tegra 4 ?

We don't even know the clock speed of these chips or IPC.

That's basically been my reservation on purchasing the stock so far. I think that if I do decide to pursue their stock, I wouldn't be putting all that much money into it.
