Don't just go by the early videos, read up on it. It really is some exciting Tech. The small peripheral screen decision was made to keep it less distracting and legal for use while driving or even riding a motorcycle(which is what I want one for) - it does not block your vision or cover your ears. Great for a GPS overlay plus handfree talking. Instead of a speaker it uses bone conduction technology(like Jawbone, but instead of the cheekbone its directly over the mastoid process which connects directly to the middle ear) so that you can hear it but nobody else can.
$1500 is steep, but so is $800 for a cell phone. The price will come down once released and as they ramp up manufacturing.
