SLI Geforce GTX 680 2gb or single Gefore Titan? - Page 3

Honestly should switch to either a 7970 SLI or a Titan. At those resolutions, you are going to be bottlenecked by how much vram you actually have. Games on single monitors and some even at 1080p are getting limited by vram even now.

Pretty much the only game I play is WoW, sometimes I'll play others but very rarely do I have time but I like my WoW settings maxed and I've had to turn them down to get 45-50 fps consistently.

I'm also debating on picking up a Titan and selling this 680 or pick up another one for SLI so I'm also going to drop in on this thread instead of creating another. I play mostly Planetside 2 with some DoTA & WoW mixed in here and there. I just recently got my hands on a 120hz monitor and am able to enable lightboost with the tutorial found on these forums. The difference between that monitor and the 60hz one I was using was night and day.

Planetside2 is a fairly hardware demanding game so I am trying to get every FPS possible to get near 120 to take advantage of this monitor.

One thing I am concerned about though was microstuttering with the SLI set up. I used to own two 570s in SLI and the 90fps I was getting in WoW didn't feel like 60fps muchless 90-120fps I was 'getting.' When I picked up this 680 I felt a similar change in fluidity as I did before going from the 60hz to 120hz monitor.

So my concern here is yes, the 680s in SLI are "better," but will it "feel" as smooth as a single Titan.

Same here; im on the verge of getting a Titan or go 680 SLI but i fear the stuttering as my 120hz 27" (with lightboost trick CRT like) would be wasted, im leaning towards the titan but the 680 SLI is a better deal...
No way back to the 60hz even for the new hype of 1440p and 1600p, when they have a lightboost 120hz, ill make the jump, not before!
Ill make yours my words:
"So my concern here is yes, the 680s in SLI are "better," but will it "feel" as smooth as a single Titan?"

An update on what I have decided to do with my dilemna...

Mid summer I purchased the GTX 780 and got rid of the GTX 680.... and was thinking about the monitor as you guys recommended. So just this week, I went and purchased the Dell Ultrasharp U3014 with another GTX 780 to in SLI with the other GTX 780... and a new sound card Asus Rog Xonar Phoebus.... and Corsair vengeance K70 keyboard & M65 mouse.

I feel happy now. smile.gif
