Weird. Didn't think PS4 released yet.

Still doesn't address the lack of backwards compatibility two generations in a row.

Weird, I never said the PS4 released. I was talking about the games I currently own. (Learn to read a little better, good sir.)
Lack of BC? Uh, both have BC, the PS3 with PS1, and the PS4 with PS1 and PS2 games... so I don't see the problem. "But I want to sell my PS3" Then sell your PS3 games with it if you are tired of gaming enough to sell a console... The Wii U is not BC with Gamecube games and you don't see people complaining about that.

They only do these things so they make gamers happy. If you do not have the money to afford the gaming hobby, you should re-think your hobbies or re-think your job/career. It costs money to remaster things that the consumers want. If you would rather them go bankrupt or stay in the dark ages of gaming for another 6 - 8 years... that's just wrong.

Why is this a surprise to everyone?

Because they would rather be cheapskates than keep their tech? XD We are on a tech site... and people are complaining about not being able to get rid of tech... yeah... logic.

But those sales will eventually die or reduce greatly, compared to PS4 games.

Then you misread my original post, which specifically addressed PS4. Whether you can bring games over to a friend's now on current consoles is irrelevant. That you're being restricted from doing so on the PS4 is unsat, plain and simple.

And no, BC doesn't really exist as a feature of PS3. Some games are playable. The degree to which they work is often questionable and many look outright horrid as others here have brought up. Your Nintendo comparison is silly at best or ignorant at worst; Nintendo consoles have not enjoyed a competitive market share against Sony consoles in... ever since disks became the primary game medium. I can think of a number of awesome PS1 games whose success is recorded in their published sales. Games that people want to come back (Ouya getting Final Fantasy and consumer reactions is and excellent example of this). Nobody complained about lack of backwards compatibility with Nintendo games because there were none really worth going backwards too since the game medium shifted to the disk.

Uh, no. You will be able to do the same on the PS4. Or did you forget that the PS4 is still using Blu Ray? All the PS1 games I have played work on the PS3.
And people should stop complaining about BC. If you are complain you are calling yourself a cheapskate.

Same thing on consoles.

Not sure why you think you won't be able to on PS4. Sony has already debunked the rumor about being fully digital, as well as the rumor about blocking 2nd hand games. Which means yes, you will be able to bring your games over to your friends.

This thread is about DIGITAL games, of course you can't up and bring digital games to your friends. Not unless Sony allows for you to download them to a portable media device such as a flash drive.

That is so full of crap.

Do I own my old GPU? No, I sold it on. Do I own my old phones? No, I sold them on.

Normal people sell things they don't use anymore. It's not about being cheapskates.

Like how everyone went mad for FFVII when it was re-released? That died, right?
