OH right, I remember Playstation. The thing I had before I built this rig. I don't know how you guys can manage enthusiast-level pc hobbyism/gaming and also bleeding-edge console gaming at the same time as a healthy work/school life. tongue.gif

This was the main reasons that I switched to using a computer for games, I really like the ability to play everything on 1 system.

Funny thing about that is not being able to play a few games I really enjoyed on the PC was what made me switch to consoles for games. Yes I could run a duel boot with win98 to play Janes USAF since it didn't work on XP, but then I have to worry about a host of other issues like driver support and security concerns. Just a pain.

This is why I use my Pc for strickly gaming. No browsing, nothing. I use my MacBook for everything else. I was really hoping console's would atleast bring 1080p 60fps. But after 8 years they jump from 720 (30fps) to 1080p(30fps). Pretty disappointing. Its a shame games like Forza and GranTurismo aren't released for Pc.

This is one other reason why I prefer PC gaming.
Oh new game coming out with more amazing graphics?
Cpu is up to the challange
PSU is as well
Gpu is...OH WELL UPGRADEEEE
now ALL my games are better.

I haven't bought anything for my PC in almost 5 years, except some fans, and most recently a GPU upgrade.]
The initial investment in a good solid gaming PC might be a tad higher than a launch day console, but down the line, if you choose the right parts initially, upgrading to a better rig for newer games is much cheaper. (unless you go off and buy some psycho crazy gpu that costs an arm and your first born)

Though in reality I don't do much gaming. Too many things distract me, and by the time I sit down to get a session of games in, I realize it's too late.

True, what GPU did you previously have?

Previously I had a crossfire HD4830 setup, that did me good. They're overclocked to 720mhz.
I now have an HD 7850 overclocked to 1100mhz

It's extremely easy.

Too bad you still can't do everything on one system.

30FPS locked is more than enough, though, better than PC games with a peak of 30FPS. Far from disappointing.

You've brought that up in other threads as well, and it's still a ridiculous argument. 30FPS on computer is exactly the same as 30FPS on consoles. Games that run at 30FPS on consoles almost always run faster on gaming PCs (at similar resolution and graphics settings). Even really old ones. Games that DO choke PCs down to under 30fps will look orders of magnitude better than console games, in every single way. Besides, that is the most unfair comparison ever. A Geo Metro may beat a Lamborghini in a quarter-mile race, if you give the Metro a 10 second head start.

What game, when comparing identical resolutions and graphics settings, is EVER in the console's favor? Even against the Intel HD 4000.

Anyway, I don't think that was the point of the post you were quoting. It wasn't that 30Hz sucks. The point was that the jump from 720P/30 to 1080P/30 seems ridiculously underwhelming, after 7 years of technological advances.

You could toss a titan in a ps4 and still design a game to run at 30fps. Really it is how the game is developed, newer games will be more graphical.
They will have no problem tossing 360 level graphics onto the system and get 1080p/60, but the entire game industry has noticed that 30fps are more then enough for most people when it comes to gaming on a TV. Really you need to sacrifice graphics to accommodate for the fps increase. Give me the best looking game at 1080p/30 so I can run them on my pc hopefully close to 120hz, with even better graphics.

Don't forget that both the GPU and CPU are pretty large upgrades from what we had before, Games are gonna look so much better. High Rez Textures here I come. That is after I get a card with more V-RAM, my biggest problem these days. 8970 come out sooner damn you tongue.gif
