Yep. Hype for D3 started the day D2 was released, and increased more when LoD went live. Many were disapointed with Blizard's shift of focus to WoW, and when that focus came back to the Diablo series, many have found their new look/feel to be distasteful.
I've played my fair share of D3. It's not nearly as replayable as D2 was, but a direct comparison is hard. Personally, my standards for RPGs were lower with D2. Both D2 and D3 suffer(ed) from a shortage of end-game content, and constant repetition. Yes, they BOTH do. The difference with D2 was, as I said, lower standards.
