P5B Owners

Thread Starter
I am someone who is interested in buying my memory. It is stock voltage of 2.1V, and he is concerned that the P5B will only take 1.8V memory. Does anyone have any experience with the P5B and memory over 1.8V?

Thanks

It will just boot at 1.8V, then you can change it to the 2.1V. My memory is at 2.25 right now.

EDIT: You will have to get the P5B Deluxe to use the better memory. The vanilla P5B's only go up to 2.1V or 2.0V.

Works fine for me. My memory needs 2.0v but it boots fine. I think the 1.8v issue was addressed with a bios update.

My G.Skill were the same, they need a 2.1v to run at 800mhz but the board booted at 4:5 ratio and 5-5-5-12 with a 1.80v, so I had to change everything manually.

So I think the P5B is design to start from the lowest possible speed with the lowest possible Vdimm as well.

And IMO, it's safe to buy your RAM, for the person that's interested in buying it.

How do you set/modify the CPU to Ram ratio manually on the P5B? I know there are preselected adjustments to select from, but they only give you the option to increase the Rams frequency as opposed to dropping it.

The P5B doesn't have anything that will do that. That is one of the bonus' of the 680i chipset.

You can use it with any 2.1 ram

Just boot up, then go into bios, set it to 2.1 and ur set

I tried the P5B Deluxe with multiple sets of ram and it all turned out great
