However, the 600 series is seriously crippled at mem too which is why at stock it loses to 580 as an example. Raising MEM will of course fix that issue so it's give and take.. I wouldn't concentrate simply on core but try and get the MEM to around +450 to +500 with whatever core you can put there also.

Just my opinion though.

I wish but seriously, no that's not what I'm saying. The 680 beats 580 yes of course (ie: graphics test), but it will lose in combined test so it's not beating it outright as-is.

I've had single 580 and then SLI and I've had single 670 and then SLI so I know how they behave and how one destroys the other, no neither is a 680 but the difference (especially in MEM) between 670 and 680 is so little it's almost not worth mentioning.

Heaven. I could probably get 1340-50 if I bios mod to 1.215v and not increase my memory. My max load temps with 1.215v after 30 min of furmark is only 50c max.

It depends on the architecture. Smaller memory bus' will give you good gains if you overclock the memory more. On tahiti, memory overclocking doesn't pay out as much as core overclocking because tahiti already comes with a blazing fast memory interface.
