Cheap Radbox/Radmount...

Thread Starter
I'm sure this has been done before, but I cannot find it. Whatr if you just gutted the fan and fan supports and used the frame of the fan as a radbox? Would this work? The shape and size are exactly the same...

here is a pic of a retail Radbox/Radmount...

I've seen people use like 1" standoffs from the hardware store, I think you would get better airflow and less noise with standoffs. Plus it would be cheaper.

if you're willing to deal with the hassle go a head... but ppl don't realize the swifty one is actually two pieces that fit together making it really convinent and well constructed... in my opinion it was well worht the 20 bones.

It also uses standoffs to im,porve airflow of the case fan and the rad fan

Yes, it is definitely possible to use a gutted fan enclosure(?) as a radbox. It's also not that much more expensive than a 120mm fan itself. So I'd rather save the hassle and get the radbox.

Thanks guys, just figured it was a cheaper way for those on a very tight budget. Four supports with a dremel would take 10 seconds at most. And the fan is actually still usable to some... Thanks for the input.
