ASUS G53 \ MOST G series. Gaming Temps, FPS drop? (MBY move to Custom Cooling?)

Thread Starter
Ive got a G53 from asus. I got two questions,

1. Does my fps drop (every 30 sec) due to the temps? When I check my hwmonitor after playing a game it says my gpu is about 82c. and the cpu about 75-80 aswell.

Idle temp Cpu 46c
Idle temp Gpu 46c

2. Will my fps improve by modding a fan somehow so the airflow intake will be better?

I got some ideas but I need to get it verified first..

Thanks in advance!

Mreek

So.. I decided to just do it anyways.. Was very fast. So now I just wait and see how much the temps goes down and do a benchmark after. thumb.gif

Well Seems Like it works.. Works like a charm ingame also. Temps seems to keep it smooth and cool smile.gif 53c is the load when playing ARMA 2 ACE after a while.

no more sucky fps drops.

What were your load temps? Idle temps don't matter.

What did you do exactly? These G series have pretty good cooling already.

EDIT: Just saw those fans, glad it worked. I use a coolermaster pad with 3 fans, gota love the design of these laptops!

I'm on a G73 and have never experienced temp issues. 75~ max load on both CPU and GPU while running heaven benchmark.

Common problem. To stop it i use ThrottleStop. I dont know what Asus was thinking when they build this Laptop. GPU @100% normal, CPU @ 100% normal. Both under Heavy load the CPU or GPU throttles causing lag spikes.

loadteamps gpu MAX 60c playing arma for 4 hours straight. CPU MAX 70c. Even with lower RPM fans so It wont make noise

With the Higher RPM fan I had MAX gpu 36c and max cpu 44c (switched it out, sound was to loud.)

But it seems like laptops do not like to get too cold. Doing 3dmark when it was so cold it stoppped working..

Pfft, my GPU hits 85*C under full load and doesn't throttle... tongue.gif My CPU even higher when overclocked (90*C).

There's no need for a cooling mod with temps like that. rolleyes.gif Unless your machine is shutting off from temps being too high, and no cooling mod would lower temps THAT much, you're probably just being screwed over by the Asus design team. tongue.gif

"Hmm... We have a 45W i7 720qm and a mid-range Radeon HD5730 Mobility that also runs a bit hot. How about we use tiny air intake vents to suffocate the cooling fan, a tiny heatsink, and crappy thermal paste? As long as the N61Jq isn't pushed to full load, it shouldn't reach 90C and start burning the users' left fingers"

"GREAT IDEA!"

And sadly, that appears to be not the exception in the laptop industry...
