Setup Help Please!!

Thread Starter
OK so i went through this huge pile of crap getting my RAID array setup, but i diagnosed the problems with users here, and it was sorted.

I'm in the windows setup now, at the screen where it preaches all that crap about XP being the greatest thing and all it's new features... and it's scrolling through all that stuff,

But for the last half hour it has said time to completion: 34 mins. which is what it said when it started.
Also it has said Installing devices at the bottom with the progress bar unchanged from about 3/4 of the way done.

What should i do? if i shut down i can screw my HDD's up and if i don't i might be here forever!

Its only been a couple of minutes, I would say just try again. Now that you did your RAID set up once, the second time should be a breeze.

it's not the raid i'm worried about... if you kill an install mid way through you can really screw over the HDD's themselves. and i really don't wanna do that. Cuz they weren't cheap.
I could reinstall the raid no problem now!

Hell i could teach a course in it now!

No Sudden ShutDown wont Hurt the HDD'S in this case. Setup will just continue from the point of shutdown. Well it shouldnt take this long with your RIG. My thoughts is that your RAID drivers that you have installed during setup ( I hope you have ) maybe incompatible somewhere across the line..Perhaps trying a later version. Also make sure that in the BIOS you have the correct RAID mode selected for the Mode you are going for.

Thats interesting, I have never heard anything about killing an installation half way through actually causing any lasting harm to a HDD! If that is the case I would say just wait a while longer. However, I personally would reset it and try again, as I have never had any damage caused from killing a windows installation.

ps. not calling you out docta, but do you have a link where you got this information from, I would like to know if its actual physical damage or what

lol...
I'd say kill it, restart, reformant, and try again. If that doesn't work, buy a Dell

I have no data to support my outlandish claims... i suppose it was just nerves and hearsay sorry!
