Will a Blue Snowball pickup the sound of my MX Blue keyboard

Thread Starter
Im thinking of buying a Blue Snowball to use on my YouTube channel and I can see using it for normal commentaries over gameplay but I'm worried about using it for live commentaries where I'd be using my Quickfire Rapid which has cherry MX Blue switches. I want to know if anyone out there who has this microphone and maybe even a keyboard with these switches can shed some light on this microphone. If there is no workaround, I can just use my current microphone for live commentaries.

I'm not sure if there's any slight difference but while using my Blue Yeti Pro...it can indeed pick up very clearly of any keyboard click/tap on maximum gain. However, if you lower the gain then it's less noticeable...just consider than you'll also have a lower volume voice/sound when you do turn down the gain. Basically...you should invest into a quieter keyboard or try to find/use a mic that won't pick up the small noises.

Long story short, it will.

Your best option is to use a microphone on a low gain / high sensitivity setting right up to your face. Like wise, make sure the pickup pattern has the keyboard in it's dead spot.

Or, you could grab a quiet scissor switch keyboard.

I got the Blue Yeti and yes i can hear the keyboard and clicking but if you adjust it properly (settings/position) it isnt to bad. Best mic ive ever had.

Well the sounds really come from bottoming out most of the time, you could add orthodontic elastics to the keys to prevent the bottoming out... http://www.ebay.ca/itm/100-Orthodontic-Elastic-Rubber-Bands-4-Hair-Brace-1-2-/140349448372?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20ad7aa0b4&_uhb=1

also perhaps a pop filter would help, although I're really not certain. People have suggested Blue's 'The Pop' as a good filter for under $30.

The Blue's click, like a clicky pen almost.

Which, that sound will be picked up by the mic. Pop filter won't do anything for that.

To go to extremes would be to make a custom sound proofing around the mic with an opening facing you with a pop filter and also having it in a suspension cradle on a dedicated mic stand not connected to your table.

For me i didnt worry because i have enough noise from the local traffic lol
