External hdd to internal, dont want to format

Thread Starter
Pulled a 3tb Seagate from its external casing to use as an internal. I have tons of stuff on the drive, thought it would work fine but windows is asking me to Format the drive to use as internal. Anyways around this at all? Maybe even just be able to pull the info off then reformat? I dont want to lose any data

Most motherboards dont support internal HDDs over 3tb in size. Your only solution is to put it back into the caddie and partition to 2x 1.5tb. Or similar

ok so i put it back into its external drive case (seagate backup+ ) so I can at least extract the data; and after Initializing disk, it still wants me to format again! AHHHH anyways to read the data on my drive?

windows 7 or 8 surely will not have problem with 3TB drives. What is your OS?
