i got a 7970 and a 8120 at 4.3ghz (crappy ass mobo) and STILL with this combo i can get 120fps (mixed settings) on bf3.. guess what?? sometimes the gpu isnt maxed.. NEITHER THE CPU !!!

how do i know this?? HWINFO64 + AFTERBURNER = per core usage + gpu usage in game..

it never goes over 50% on the cpu.. the gpu max i have seen its like 88%

AND YET STILL PEGGED 120FPS (Vsync cap)

how is that possible?!?!? more power isnt needed to do that plain and simple....

Download hwinfo64 and afterburner.. monitor you cpu PER CORE + gpu usage in game.. more effective that way

and some games are just crappy...

Yes, I was just about to do that. Crysis 3 is finishing downloading so I will try the Hwinfo + Afterburner combo with it.

I'm about to try it, it's almost finished downloading in Origin.

With Crysis 3 everything is fine I guess... it maxes out my GPU and the CPU cores are around 50-60% load. I think it's pretty normal considering it's the singleplayer and not the multiplayer.

Did you get everything sorted out then? I'd still recommend getting the FX 6300, or 8320 if you are playing Crisis 3. Also what Motherboard are you using?

No, that's just Crysis 3 singleplayer. I have tried TF2 now and look at the reults, CPU and GPU usage are BAD:

I'm using an Asrock 970 Extreme4 with all the bs disabled (C1E, Cool n Quiet, APM, Turbo Core...) and 8GB HyperX Genesis @1866MHz.

So I did another test with Prime95 and 3 out of 4 cores failed. I'm testing again with more voltage.

EDIT: Ok, now it seems stable at 1.475v, but the voltage seems a little high... what are the safe voltages?

I will try gaming now and see if there's any difference.

UPDATE: There's no difference in TF2.
