Battlefield 3 Crashes with directx error - Page 2

Are you using MSI afterburners on screen display? I got the same message and when I turned the on screen display off it fixed the problem.

I had the same problem which was due to a bad OC, try lowing your overclock or bump up the volts a bit.

I have those sometimes too, Restarting your computer is a quick fix for it.

I was at first thinking my OC was causing the crashes but really it's having MSI afterburner running. The Overclock can be applied but Afterburner cannot be running while starting BF3 for some reason (Possibly EA's Anti Piracy software [changes in your computer]). Or something, it's only BF3 that causes this error on my system as well.

But honestly BF3 is a very buggy game. Getting the system to run the game is stupid and redundant as well (and could also be causing problems). In order to play BF3, Battlefield launcher brings up your web browser to a website, then when you try to play the game Origin Launches to do a game check and sync data to their servers every time (Latency has caused lock ups before). Then finally BF3 launches minimized and you have to bring it to full screen, with both the web browser and the origin running in the background (who are both JAVA applications that access graphics memory). A lot can go wrong in all these stupid steps.

Also I tried driver sweeper, and it #$%^ UP my computer. Stuck on a Blue Screen Of Death Loop. Praise Microsoft for System Restore, so from personal experience use driver sweeper with caution.
