ok so i'm woken up this morning at... too early and told that my mothers furious because I did something to the computer. so i come down and my dad boots the computer and shows me that he can't click anything and i notice that the HDD light is constantly on so i remark that it may be a corupt file and restarted the computer. I rebooted into safemode on the drive with vista on it and it worked so then i booted regular on the drive with XP on it and that worked except i get this error that says title at the top and topic in the box (shown in Pic) wierd.. well i guess thi is all i have to do to fix it except maybe figuring out what caused it to clear my name lol. why is it that when people know nothing about computers they always blame the person that does when something goes wrong?

well right off the bat i would say that you have way too much going on, i would hate too see what your task manager is up too!! how much of your memory is being used and all of that stuff? also you have spyware on your computer, it is pretty much a gimme when you have those toolbars that somthing bad will happen, i see aol toolbar right on the main screen, so chances are that you have more than just that one. also i see there are alot of "add on" icons that came with software, that you dont need try and too consolidate what you need and dont need, and get rid of them, it is just taken longer for your hdd too find things if they are all over the place like that. you know there is a such thing as a "start" button, (bottom left of screen) and usually thats where it all is, but i know sometimes that takes too long. but just try and clean up the desktop a little and get rid of them damn toolbars.

I'm with you on the 'too much going on', jmc.

As for the why you had that box... it probably has to do with something going on in a program that loads at startup (worst-case: it's adware/spyware related, in which case, run your scanner of choice to try and clean it up). I'd say to check out what's booting at startup and see if anything looks out of place, then start singling them out (through msconfig) one by one and rebooting until the message disappears --> then you've found the culprit program.

i reinstalled AOL and the error went away. as for the too much going on i allways scan for spyware with adaware and spybot and my mom needs all thos icons on the desktop and the toolbars because it makes it "easier for her to use the computer" idk but if i change it she will freak out lol
