I dual booted 7 and 8 for awhile and keep going back to 7. Even with a custom start menu on 8 I prefer 7. 8 had some great features that, if implemented into 7, would make it a pretty much perfect OS. However, 8's cons far outweigh the pros in my opinion.

Plus I like Aero a crap ton more than Win8's theme.

I voted with no, because windows 8 require less hardware resources than vista to operate quite fast. This does not mean I like it.
No, it's a very stable and fast OS unlike Vista. Under the hood it's an amazing operating system, it's just the UI that people don't like.

I actually find vista to be a more useful OS over 8 as far as features and usability is concerned. Don't like how 8 pulls up full screen apps every time I want to look at a picture, listen to music, or view a document. I had the choice of using 8 or vista on my HTPC and went with vista after seeing how it performed on my laptop, vista felt like the right OS for my need.

I'm running Vista Ult. on a G620, 4GB and a low profile 4650 and 500GB WD HDD and it runs almost as fast as my main machine with an SSD.

I wish people would quit making this comparison. Vista and ME were technical failures, Win8 is a design failure.

Windows 8 =! Windows Vista

They are two entirely different operating systems, with 8 being faster and more stable/secure than Windows 7. The only "Vista" thing about it is the sales, and that's due to people not liking the new start menu nothing more.

I don't believe it is as bad as vista, not by a long shot. I actually like most of the improvements. What I do not like and why I refuse to use it is the lack of a start menu. People say use the keyboard shortcuts, we have been trained ever since the first gui os's became available to use the keyboard as little as possible for basic navigation. This is a step backward I think. I like the start menu and in my opinion having to buy 3rd party software to fix the laughingstock that is metro (my own opinion) is ridiculous. This is not the future I don't think, not until touch screens take over... and they won't take over for desktop type of users like myself. The sheer ergonomics of it is horrible for that purpose. People say desktops are on their way out. I like many people here don't believe it. Why should we have to use something designed for touch screens with a keyboard and mouse, it just makes no logical sense.
