That's a pretty awful PSU. Cooler Master usually makes pretty bad PSU's. I would get an Antec VP450 and then a slightly cheaper case. Also try to get a better GPU as well as the DDR3 6670 is pretty meh.

Case: overpriced for a budget build
Motherboard: low quality, could do better
Processor: a bit dated, but by no means a bad processor
Video Card: do not expect any sort of decent gaming performance out of it
Power Supply: an overall very bad unit
Memory: its memory, not much to say
HDD: i personally prefer WD over Seagate, but that is personal preference

Overall: You could do much better for the money you are spending

CPU $120 w/$10 Giftcard
AMD FX 4300

Motherboard $65 w/$10 Rebate
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

Memory $47
Kingston HyperX 1600MHz 8GB

Hard Drive $60
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB

Video Card $120 w/Sleeping Dogs
His IceQ X Radeon HD 7770 1GB GHz Edition

Case $30
NZXT Source 210 White

Power Supply $45 w/$10 Rebate
Corsair Builder Series 430W 80Plus Bronze

I second this set up. I have a Phenom 965BE and I love it, so I would not say to switch it out, but it is now an older CPU. Mine runs like a champ though.

Thanks for the input. The build you proposed has a video card that requires a 500w PSU but your build has a 430w. Is there something I'm not picking up?

Videocard manufacturers often inflate the required PSU wattage because they don't know what other components are in your system AND PSU quality varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. That Corsair 430w should handle a FX-4300 and a 7770 fine.

OK. Understood. Thanks for your help. What type of games will run on that system and at what kind of settings?

What resolution will you be playing on?

What games do you want to play with this rig?

The 7770 is not a bad card, but it is by no means a beast. It will handle games that are not too demanding on high, but with no AA. Games that are more demanding may need to be dropped down to medium. All this is assuming a 1920x1080 resolution. If you have a lower resolution monitor you may be able to play more demanding games on high, but I would not get my hopes up.

The 500W version of that PSU is not much more and it has a $20 rebate on newegg right now which makes it cheaper than the 430W one: Corsair Builder Series CX500

all PCIe are backwards compatible. so even if you had some old motherboard with PCIe 1.0, a video card that supports PCIe 3.0 will still work
