or monday I can contact my friend who works
for intel in Arizona and is Microsoft certified.
my wife works for intel here in Washington state but
she's a buyer so she won't be any help.
my friend in Az though he was up here 2 years ago and spent 2 weeks
at Microsoft getting certified.

also if you have another drive maybe try to copy from one drive to another and then see if the files show up.

Fixed! Turns out that the worm put my files in a sort of hidden folder marked as a protected operating system file. I just unticked the "Hide Protected Operating System Files" in folder options and found that hidden folder. Still, thanks for the helpful answers! +rep

oh i already thought you had that setting, I have all my computers set too show any and all files as
I'm the only one that works with the files.
