Crysis 3 : 20-30% Framerate and Performance Boost (CPU-Limited Users Only) - Page 6

Ok, so this seems to be giving me positive results so far; I still gotta do some more tests before coming to any definitive conclusion but so far I gotta say good find! thumb.gif

I play with Vsync and triple buffering through D3DOverrider and Frame Rate Limit on Nvidia Inspector to 120fps. This actually helped lots.

Downsampling 1440p (my native res is 1920x1080)

Before the tweaks on your video. I tried all sorts of things like an extensive autoexec etc (cvar configs) and nothing yielded these results.

Now I have NO input lag, NO sli microstutter (no more stutter, when doing quick 180 degree turns) thumb.gif and frames are super steady constant 60fps in multiplayer.

and single player 50-60fps (Goes down to 50-55fps sometimes in action if many bullets are hitting water and causing ripples etc)

otherwise after that the frames snap back to 60fps

Only level that gave me trouble is the first one only when looking at the ropes throughout level, but Crytek need to patch that.

All in all can't thank you enough for relaying this info, has made my Crysis 3 experience that much better.

Quick screenie showing performance: (temp, usage, fan speed)

This magical thing did wonder for me! I disabled my HPET from my bios and in C3 I managed to gain 10-15 fps extra biggrin.gif But must I always to start the software after I open then minimize the game every time or can I open the software before I start the game? Again good job to OT thumb.gif
post #54 of 143
Alright, I did something similar but hit WAY around the bush.

Strangely though yesterday I downloaded a CPU timer specifically for Crysis 3 but forgot to use it for some reason.
What went in my head was "This is a shooting game and I kill people, so why is it using 100% of my CPU?'. Then those moving grass animations came into my mind and I immediately thought of disabling it. Makes the grass horrible where from a distance density is reduced and it plays its animation but when you walk up close the grass freezes and the density increases. Pretty bad visually, but I got 50-70 fps doing this, plus freed up 20-40% CPU usage.

Though if this tool promises to improve performance by 20-30%, might as well turn it on. Was having horrible CPU performance in the middle of big fields with lots of moving grass, and negative SLI scaling upto 40% (with 23fps).

Is this only for SLI Xfire users?
Yes I tested 0.5 timer and its a bit smooth now but no big difference.. I guess becuase its more like weak cpus that users have more cpu bound.. So thats it.

and by default hpet is activated on bios and windows.

I do not recommend HPET off and never mess with that it may cause severe consequences.

This is very interesting about the grass animation.

Thread Starter
The grass/foliage in the game is terrible anyway. It's locked at 60Hz. So even if you're on a 120Hz monitor, and are getting 120+ fps, the animation of the foliage and grass and I'm sure many other items is playing at half-speed so it's not as smooth as the rest of the game. Quite distracting.

I believe the grass is locked at 30Hz. There's no way the grass is moving at more than 30fps.

Great tip overall btw. Thanks.
