AMD 64 3800+ x2 need overclocking... on M2N-SLi

Hey guys

As you've probably already guessed I'm a complete n00b when it comes to overclocking

Recently I just overclocked my 7600GT's (x2 SLi) and I have noticed a perfomance boost on the games i play and 3D applications I use. I did this using Rivatuner... which was really simple and effective

I have been into my Bios to try and up my 2.0GHz to 2.5GHz or whatever the highest yet safe speed my CPU can be clocked too... but there wasnt any options that would let me put it up..

Im on x64 XP and my case is filled with fans so I doubt everything will get burnt

Can anyone reccomend any guides/programs that will help me get my 3800+ Dual Core overclocked

Thanks in advance!!

Please go to UserCP and fill in system specs, this would help us in helping you more and quicker

btw i think some info on your motherboard is very usefull and maybe you should introduce yourself in the 'new members' topic
post #3 of 25
Right, fill in your UserCP System Specs and then we'll get to helping you out. First things first though... did you read the stickies? They aren't there just for historical reasons, they actually help.

There are some good FAQs out there too, although the section is currently a mess right now...

Yea theres enough. Start upping your FSB which should be in your bios since asus just gives you OCing options on prett much all of their boards espcially an nForce4 one. When your computer fails to boot, up your VCore a bit. if that doesn't work, start loosening your RAM timings(might have to put a divider on your RAM) and use memtest86 to test them out. Orthos Beta is also a great stress testing utility.

Yes you could, BIOS settings are saved to the CMOS, which is found directly on your motherboard and powered by a 3.2v battery. Totally indepedent from Windows and your hard disks.

But i wouldn't recommend doing so, you should reinstall windows at stock settings and then beging overclocking after you're done. This will prevent a possible corrupted install.

Ehh. He may be right, but I've never had a problem with it...

Most ASUS boards have a function on them that lets you save BIOS profiles. Makes it very easy to switch back and forth from stock to OC w/o a lot of fuss!

Well me neither, just in case his OC isn't too stable it could lead to some problems during the installation process...
