Crysis 3 Destroying my PC? - Page 3

the game is almost impossible to run at max with very high settings for even the most powerfull cards.
i get 35-45 fps on high,smaa 4,texture quallity-high with my 7970 which is terrible
it seems on their part they didnt optimized the game properly for the highest settings, very high is drawing a lot of performence and causing stutteting

I've also got a 7950 on the way now. Hopefully that increases performance a bit.

Crysis 3 seems to dislike my 5870 overclock, I pushed it to the limits to run Hitman on full graphics with 100% stability, also, heavily modded Crysis 1 and Far Cry 3 all run perfectly. The same clock on crysis 3 starts to show lighting anomalies (not artefacts) as the temp rises (CPU and GPU is cooled by 6 X 120mm Rad with gentle typhoons). It makes the game unplayable even though the frame rates are better.
A bullet proof overclock in everything but crysis 3 it seems.... Odd

do you have any AA on? i find its one of the most terrible performance hinders for this game.

also i think alot of people say that any settings on very high drop FPS more than its worth.

i run everything on high and almost never drop below 50 fps, mostly in the upper 70s (or higher depending on the area)

ALSO if you are talking about the campaign.. idk what it is about the first level but it just DRAINED my gpu... i think its the rain.

i can run crysis 3 on medium settings without AA (anti aliasing enabled) I use a XFX HD6970 graphics card. When i change my settings to a higher value i only get 13/20 FPS which makes the game unplayable.
The rest of my system setup is as following:

CPU ; INTEL CORE I7 2600K 3,4-4,0 GHz
GPU : XFX AMD HD6970
MAINBOARD: GIGABYTE P67
RAM: Kingston hyper x 1333MHz (8GB)

I think that if I overclock my system i will be able to play crysis 3 on high settings, but I love the graphics when i play it on medium settings so there is no need for me to overclock my system.
you should get faster RAM 1333 with whats out today? and the rest of your rig is pretty sweet?? i know RAM isnt that big of a deal but every bit helps

I've considered purchasing Crysis 3 (I own both Crysis 1 & 2 - played both on very high settings without any issues with my sig rig), however I've read that Crysis 3 is very CPU dependant. Since I have a first generation Intel i7 cpu OCed to 4.0 GHZ and two GTX 470s (SLI), my first thought was that I would probably be able to run Crysis 3 on very high settings withouot much issue. Now, after some reading, I don't think I will be able to do so.

My question - will I be able to run Crysis 3 with respectable frame rates (40 - 60) using a mixture of high and very high settings? Also, should I purchase additional RAM? I currently have 6 GB (1600)....I was thinking of upgrading to 16 GB (1600). Do you think the additional RAM will help much?

I run crysis 3 singleplayer on 6048x1080 on high with 2xaa(the dual card 1). The FPS is around 30-40 fps which is not a lot but it feels smooth as I am not getting any noticable micro stutter.
GPU usage is at ~90% on each card.
My CPU and ram is the same as yours is why I post that. It seems fine. Your 470's are a few gens old now, I would think they would be the limiting facetor.

To those wanting to run ultra? If you have to ask then.. No. Its not a nig graphics jump and its a massive performance hit. Eyefinity on high is the best looking game Ive ever seen.

I was fiddling with settings earlier primarily I have been playing with fxaa, getting 40-50fps (ultra/very high all) I saw the option for SMAA MGPU (2x) so I decided to throw it on visually it looks better then fxaa and my fps doubled.
By what it's called it indicates it's for multi gpu setups, but it threw me off due to fxaa usually being the "light" aa, give it a try and see if it does anything for ya.

Seconded, underclocking my GPU also get rid of the DXGI_device_error_removed crash that I was getting.
