Seriously thinking about doing a water cooling solution, just for the fun would be ok as it looks interesting, if I get better temps then thats a bonus.

What should I be seeing temp wise for a standard 3770k at 100% load?

(and thanks for all the advice guys)

Since there are so many variables that would have an effect it is hard to say what you should be seeing temp wise under load, but I would say between 50-70 not overclocked at stock voltage at 20c ambient. Overclocked at higher voltages is a different story as different people using different coolers will be using different voltages, temps can be anywhere anywhere between 65-95. In jay2nice000 screenshot with his H2O cooling you can see his temps got up to a max 74c after only 2+ mins at full load. That is my average temp when using my Antec 920 Kuhler but I have seen it spike up to a max of 89 during some p95 workers, overclocked at the settings in my sig. Keep in mind too these are tests designed specifically to stress your chip and under normal circumstances like when playing games or rendering you will probably not ever see temps this high even when overclocked. If you want longevity for your chip don't go above 80+. At idle I you should be seeing 30 +/-5 regardless of which cooler you are using.

Custom loops are fun BUT, you can go poor upgrading.

(Just spent 300$ on a rad/ Pedestal.)

Computer only spent 1.3k.....Loop im at 1.1k now.....

Edit: try core temp.

Know what you mean, with the screen's and everything included im about £3000 down for this rig, all to say "look its better than your xbox" lol

Price does not bother me if i am getting somthing thats gunna work, rather spend the money and get a quality bit of kit (why I went with a 3770 rather than a 3930 is beyond me lol). I got a decent job, so it pays for this hobby for now haha.

Here is a pic of my screen smile.gif

Thats making me feel a little better, idle i am seeing 29/34 and at 4.2Ghz (right now) im getting 81oC max and av of 77oC, some app's will crash but i dont get a BSoD, if de-lid takes me down 15oC then thats well within temps I guess. Then its all about making it stable.

AIDA64 + ASUS Tools

The 4 core temps are what you want to worry about, not the single CPU temp.

You're getting crashes? Doesn't sound like your system is very stable then... Why wait until you bring your temps down before you troubleshoot your temps further. The two may very well be related.

prime example right here he runs his 3770k at 4.5ghz at 1.26v on a 920 cooler on prime95 and his temps have hit 89c on his hottest core and on my custom loop on intelburn ( which normal runs anywhere from 15-25c hotter, pending on cpu ) on a 3770k at 4.9ghz at 1.35v and my hottest was 74c. just for you to get a hit on how superior wc is.

Now when it comes to WC set up for yourself it doesnt mean you can buy anything, you have to go with what can go in your case. i only spent 400 on my wc set up, besides my cpu my 7950 is underwater on the same loop. just because something is expensive it doesnt mean its the best. make sure your do some serious research on parts before you buy any parts

do yourself a favor and a headache...nip it in the butt where the source is...delid that sucker and go wc or ln2....but first and formost delid that...your temps are consistent...delid it and I recommend Liquid ultra pro...you'll see a 10-20C on air...at least I did with the jet engines I have running my i5 at 4.8-4.9gHz IBT @ about 60-70C at 10 runs...5 gig ranges I'm pushing 80c on air...but just shows how efficient that stuff is...you'd benefit....ask around if need be or by all means, drop me a line...Kudos! thumb.gif

Yeah, those AIO H2O coolers perform only marginally better than high quality aircoolers.
