ok this will probably be a noobish question but i'm just getting into linux so there will probably be alot of these for a while, but anyways i downloaded it from the F@H site and extracted the file do the desktop but now i don't know how to run it... can anyone tell me how i just have no idea when it comes to linux and i'm planning on using this computer for 24/7 folding on linux because i heard you get higher yields than in windows.

Well...I'm not _too_ familiar with linux folding, but:

I'd open up a terminal (Accessories -> Terminal), 'cd' to the directory you downloaded it to (probably './Desktop'), then execute the file. ('./FAHwhatever'). If it's a .tar.gz file, then run 'tar zxvf FAH.tar.gz' and './FAHwhatever'. Got that? IIRC, it asks you a few questions then starts.

To have it run at startup...eh that's where it gets distro-specific. I'd google a bit, maybe on fedoraforum.org, and if you're desperate, post a thread on fedoraforum.org...

ok well it's a .exe file because when i got it the first time i got the SMP version and it's only a single core system. but when i click it nothing happens and when i open the terminal and cd to the Desktop and type FAH504-linux or FAH504-Linux.exe or run FAH504-Linux it says bash: FAH504-Linux: command not found... it's the I386 version but it should still run on the 64 bit linux shouldn't it? the only 64 bit version the have is the SMP version which won't run on my computer because i only have one core.

so i saw on the F@H site that you should put ./ before the file name but when i do that i get
bash: ./FAH504-Linux.exe: Permission denied
what gives?

then type
Code:
chmod +x FAH504-Linux.exe
and then ./FAH <TAB key>

Why not try 5.91beta, just wondering? Since its 64 bit only.
