your best/worst/funniest "wait a minute..."-moment - Page 2

I had these random shutdowns, no warning, just that the computer would randomly shutdown at times. I was thinking overclocking may have effected it, but i could never get a blue screen to confirm. So i try running stock and it still randomly shuts down, do a bunch of hard drive plugging and unplugging, scan for viruses, switch up my ram so i was sure it was the psu, nope....then came the "wait a minute" moment, after several days of pulling hair, I found out my computer was plugged in too loose into the wall outlet and was just hanging there causing the random loss of power..........rolleyes.gif

I did that same thing on a Honda Civic I had many years ago... at least it was clean oil that drained all over my garage floor... but that didn't make cleaning it up any less of a nightmare.

the wait a minute thing happened to my friend's build when we were building it. you know, HAFX comes with casters. naturally, we found out the mounting holes for it and so started screwing in, but for a reason it just wouldn't. first moment of "wait a minute" ended with the feet removed but again another doh.gif, since it was the same problem. then, i thought of installing it from inside, and it worked fine. but it started falling since there wasnt any lugs to secure the casters, so i ended up installing the feet too.

I had an AOpen MZ855-II Cube, pretty little thing with i mediocre Pentium M motherboard in it.

Time passed and I was happy with it until the Pentium M and Intel IGP just started feeling old and the lack of a SATA port limited me to much on the HDD front.

I had the brilliant though of jamming a mini-ITX motherboard into the box.

I order a complete new set of internals, mobo, CPU, memory & HDD. I pull out all the old parts, remove excess wires fit the new HDD into the holder and start to mount the motherboard before I realise, the old motherboard is not mini ITX and the new one will not fit.

I spend the next hour ripping up the rear of the case to make it fit the new mini ITX. It looked like a horror show and it was not possible to use the expansion slot.

The case held up until a bought a cheap Lian Li to replace it, and now it's collecting dust in the basement.
