LOL! User error; usually the source of these kind of problems. Can't believe I overlooked something so simple!
Oh well .

Well!! Ah ha! There is yet more to tell of this story!

I am not quite as big an idiot as I first thought, as, even though I now have the card fully powered, it still artefacts in Oblivion and Blue screened again with the same message as before!

This time though, it crashed to blue screen when I had 4x AA, 16x AF, Temporal AA and Adaptive Anti-Aliasing on with all Oblivion graphics settings, set to "high". When I run the game with 2x AA and 8x AF with only Adaptive Anti-Aliasing on I don't get any artefacts or (so far) crashes to blue screen.

As I'm pretty sure my PSU can handle the card on-top of other hardware power demands, I'm putting this phenomenon down to the drivers. That, or perhaps I really do have a faulty card..?

So, even though I have been pretty dumb with the whole not plugging the power cables in properly thing, I may not of been totally to fault for the BSODs, crashes and in-game strangeness. It may well be that the drivers are somewhat unstable after all .

For the mean time though, it is working in all my games, although not with the most demanding AA/AF settings in Oblivion... Could be just an Oblivion thing though?

Any ideas on this new problem? PSU issue, Oblivion, or back to the drivers as the culprit?

Thats a dam pitty. However that is definately a drivers Error . I got the SAME BSOD when trying to run X1600'S in CF..However it turned out that the other card was faulty.

I haven't read the entire thread because of my insanely slow internet connection today.

Have you tried the ATI 6.11's? They work well with my card, whilst I had issues with 6.9 & 6.10

Could there be any options in the BIOS that concern the graphics card that could be tweaked? Maybe take a look in there.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already (or dosen't help at all!)

I'm guessing this is a drivers issue with my card, because the drivers that come on the CD have caused many people problems, other than myself. Damn, i wish this would just work... Oh well, I'll wait it out and see if the drivers really are to blame. If not, I can always send the card back, I think you get a year within which you can RMA stuff like this.

I've tried WarCat 6.11, Omega 6.8, ATi 6.11 and ATi 6.12 beta. None of them will recognice my card. It's a know issue apparently and supposedly ATi are working on it...

I just wish the drivers they'd sent out with the X1950XT were a bit better, although apparently they work for some people?

OK guys. Have a look at this screenshot:

This is the CCC and the messed up image is where the little race car usually is to show you how you're 3D settings effect a 3D image.

Where the car and racetrack would usually be, now there are only artefacts... Is this really drivers, or is this card faulty? I've never seen artefacts in the CCC before.... Now I am starting to think it's a bad card ...

I remember these from my "Faulty" X1800GTO. At the time I had a 350W PSU and it gave these same Artifacts + BSODs. I got my Hiper 580W and have had no problems yet, and Enterprise now has this card, and it works perfectly

So I could be a PSU issue, can you test it in someone elses rig?
