The problem is, i dont think the shroud was designed to be removable.

There are plastic spring thingies that hold the shroud on the left side, but there are none on the right side

closer view of both sides:

This is what I did with the reference 7970 cooler before I replaced it with the Accelero Xtreme cooler. Just blow compressed air into the openings on the card to get the dust out.

i dont see any screws aside from the 4 in the middle that might be holding the heatsink.
perhaps its better to just blow air lol

I have two of those card's. Sapphire 6850's.
Nothing special about them, the shroud is attached to the heatsink. The plastic thingies you are looking at are the VRM heatsinks iirc(dont think its mem like I referred before).
A can of compressed air will be enough to clean it tho, my set never caught too much dust

I had that same card, a sapphire 6850 1gb gddr5. So easy to clean !
Just unscrew the 4 metallic screws at tha bottom of the card and its done. Remember to clean and reapply thermal compound/paste to the core before reappliying the fan.

I did it about 4 times through the lifetime of the card.

If you are worried about the temps, mine ran a max of 78ºC with furmark. so it runs hot !
