Which of the 3 is the Best Buy?

There are (3) SSD's to choose from & I am buying it from MicroCenter since I have $475 of store credit.

  • Crucial M4 512Gb - $380
  • Samsung 840 500Gb - $332
  • OCZ Agility 3 480Gb - $350

Which of the 3 is the better buy regarding to quality & performance?

Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

With the other two drives so close in price I would skip the Agility 3 altogether. The Agility line isn't is not nearly as nice as the other two.

The m4 is always a solid, reliable choice, but it's write speed leaves much to be desired.

People say the TLC NAND on the 840 has few enough writes to severely shorten it's life, but if you aren't doing constant writes on it, the drive should last longer than you will use it for (assuming you upgrade every few years).

$332 for the 840 is a pretty dang good deal. That's what I would pick if it were me thumb.gif

Okay...There has been a change of prices since MicroCenter will price-match TigerDirect wheee.gif

Crucial M4 512Gb - $350 (price-matched to TD)

Samsung 840 500Gb - $332

I'll be using this SSD strictly for games & nothing else. Is Samsung still the overall better buy?

Still the 840 IMHO. Faster reads and writes and newer controller.

Just order from B&H, they have quick free shipping (usually 3-4 days for me max some times 2 days) and no tax. biggrin.gif

Going to MC in a couple of hours. I have $475 in-store credit. If they don't price-match it, I might just spend the cash out of pocket & save my store credit for something else in the future. Thanks for the link thumbsupsmiley.png
