Good idea to sell 6990s, get 7970s? Best 7970 for OC? - Page 2

I get 774 mh/s per card, so 2322 for the 3 that are always running.

How OC'd are those cards and voltage, do you know how much power they consume?

If I remember correctly, OCN has deemed discussion of Bitcoin mining to be against the ToS because it is a decentralized currency. Just do a quick Google search on Bitcoin mining and all of your questions should be answered! thumb.gif

best 7970 for overclocking would be the MSI R7970 Lightning. Problem is it's currently $500 and out of stock on Newegg.

I ordered a Gigabyte 1000 mhz card, which apparently has the voltage locked, BUT... I read some people saying that you can flash the bios with the GB 1.1 Ghz model's bios and it unlocks the voltage, and people are getting 1250 mhz out of it. It was on sale for $70 off, and has good cooling, so it seemed like a smart choice to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, I still can potentially reverse the order.

Btw, to answer a previous question, I'm currently getting 808 mh/s per 6990 while mining. I also just sold 2 of them, and have 3 remaining. I'm planning on selling the other 3 and maybe getting as ASIC.

Reading this thread (and the one linked to therein), I'm wondering whether the GB OC card was the best choice: http://www.overclock.net/t/1323565/how-to-unlock-gigabyte-hd-7970-oc-voltage

It seems that some people have difficulty with flashing the bios, some people claim the voltage is hardware locked, others assure that they had success...

The store webpage which I ordered the card from doesn't list which Rev it is, either. So I have no guarantee that what worked for some of those people will work for me:
