Best COOLER for 3770k @ 4.8GHz?

Hello everybody!

I've these components in my RIG but I'm not sure about the cooling system. Can you help me?

CPU - Intel 3770k @ 4.8 (desired overclocking)
MOBO - Asus Maximus Gene V
RAM - G.Skill Trident X 2400MHz
GFX - 7950 Vapor-X @ 1024MHz
CASE - Corsair C70
PSU - 750W OCZ Fatal1ty 80+

Actually I live in a little town of Italy and here is no CUSTOM WATER LOOP avaible. Which of these (AVAIBLE IN MY TOWN) cooling systems is the best for OCing @ 4.8GHz my RIG in your opinion? NO +50db!
  • Corsair H100i
  • Corsair H80i
  • Corsair H100
  • Corsair H80
  • Noctua NH-D14
  • Phanteks PH-TC14PE

And which of these avaible 120mm fans are recommended for a good case airflow (2x intake 2x exhaust)?

  • Cougar CF-V12HP
  • Corsair AF120
  • Corsair SP120
  • Noctua NF-12P
  • Noctua NF-S12A FLX

Thanks for your help.

H100i is what I would go for..

I would honestly go for the Noctua NH-D14. H100i has "a lot" of problems. If I would pick a AIO liquid cooler it would be the Kraken x60 smile.gif

What kind of problems?

Get the Phanteks PH-TC14PE or the Noctua NH-D14
None of the CLC you have listed are as good at same noise volume levels.. and if you change the fans on TC14PE or NH-D14 to a good quality high rpm fan they will be as good orbetter and there is no water to or water pump.

Corsair has a very poor track record with their Hydro coolers.

Google any one of them for problems and you will find many as well as many complaints and problems dealing with customer service.. like having to pay for post to return cooler to a foreign country, getting a different model cooler back, taking many weeks to get it resolved, etc.

Google Phanteks PH-TC14PE or Noctua NH-D14 or any of the other top air coolers and you will have to look hard to find any problems at all but will find lots of praise for customer service if there is any small problem.. like a bad fan, needing a speed reducer, PWM adapter, etc.

CLC the Kraken are probably the best.

AIO is Swiftech H220. More money but can be expanded on as needed.

I've read about 5-6 reviews of each cooler and each review sais that the item reviewed in the review is the best. What the heck?

For aesthetics i'll go H100/H100i/PH-TC14PE

For budget i'll go NH-D14/H80i

NH-D14 cand handle 4.8GHz @ 80ºC max?

Flip coin?

Reviewers usually post favorable reviews in order to stay on good side of suppliers giving them things to review. They usually don't buy the cooler. They are "gifts".

The only way to compare reviews of coolers is for same reviewer to test them both in same system.. and if it's a water cooler against an air cooler they can't be done in cases! Reason is air coolers release their hot exhaust inside the case. Water coolers either draw air from case through radiator and dump that air outside of case or if you believe Corsair's bogus instructions they draw air from outside of case and dump the hot exhaust into case... which will give you the coolest readings but heats all the air in your case by 5-20c depending on how much heat CPU is putting out. Also keep in mind CLC water cooling does not cool anything but CPU. No air is moving to cool anything on the motherboard that is normally cooled by normal down flow coolers. That's why the big boys using water have motherboards either build with waterblocks on them or put waterblocks on them.

Aesthetics is way down the list for me. Dependablity and cooling ability are what is important.
That said I have 2 Phanteks PH-TC14PE coolers and a Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme running.. I prefer the Phanteks for looks and both cool very close to the same.

Corsair coolers are not near as dependable as NH-D14
*Corsair Hydro series is full of horror stories by owners... many now X-owners because of the problems and/or Corsair's customer service.

With a good chip you should be able to get 4.4-4.6GHz on air no problem
If Phanteks will NH-D14 will. There is very little difference in cooling ability.

Here's a few links to good results of different coolers
http://www.thelab.gr/heatsinks-coolers-watercooling-reviews/cpu-cooler-review-database-89014.html
Pay attention to the fan speed of Corsair CLC.. much higher speed and much louder for a couple of degrees difference. Put similar fans on air and they will perform as good or better.

you can listen to what they will actually sound like.

http://www.thermalright.de/CPU%20Kuehler/Intel%20LGA1155/1156/Thermalright/artikel/Thermalright%20Silver%20Arrow%20SB-E%20Extreme.html
Watch the video to hear and see how well the Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme with 2500rpm fans does agains the H100.. it's 7c cooler and 1dBA louder. Phanteks and Noctua will be very similar in performance with TY-143 fans.. or Scythe's new Slip Stream 140mm 1700rpm PWM fans

If you want water cooling get a real water cooler like the Swiftech H220. It is basically a component system bundled up so it's easy for new water people to use. Advantage is you can take it apart and add a GPU waterblock, another radiator, etc. It has a much better pump than any of the CLC systems I've looked at too. H220 pump is 6amp PWM `1200-3000rpm 60,000hr life. Kraken X60 is 1.75amp 2900rpm. Corsair gives no specs for their pump.

The Phanteks PH-TC 14PE, or NH-D14 will be able to handle 3770K. H100i is more expensive and maybe slightly noiser while having fan buzzing issues with corsair link firmware. If you have the extra cash and want to work around the socket area a lot( constantly changing rams/plug/unplug fan headers and the 8 pin CPU input then H100i will be better since it don't obstruct those as much.

Why in many other reviews I saw H100i beatin' NH-D14? But, why in others reviews I see that H80i beats H100i but no PH-TC14PE or NH-D14? I can't understand nothing. Is like everybody is cheating. Feels bad man.
