Besides I have a Black Edition CPU, I might as well take advantage of that. As far as I know using the FSB won't get my CPU any higher though, it will just increase the speed of my NB and RAM as well.

Then just use a lower multi for your NB to keep it as close to stock as possible, lower your RAM divider and you have more headroom to raise the FSB. And if that helps (it will) try raising the CPU/NB voltage one step,it helps with IMC stability.

I'm encouraged to leave this thread when we're chasing down loose threads which have no relevance to the symptoms that OP described... Not overclocking via multiplier and going FSB on an unlocked processor might net him a few hundred megahertz if you don't want to address the original issue at all.

My bad,got carried away. The fact that the OP's system freezes, pixelates and kills programs indicates high temps AND core instability. My suggestion is try a boot at stock, and if all is ok,then clear CMOS. I would start from there. Once again, I apologise for not being to the point.

OP. I'd bet $20 on the fact that you don't have a broken CPU and something else is the problem. What is your VCORE when you flip up the multiplier? Is it set to auto?

No it is not set to auto, sorry for the late response. 3.8 is stable at 1.475, no less. I tested this for quite a while, these were the settings I landed on:

Multi-19x
NB Frequency-2600 Mhz
RAM-Auto or 9-9-9-24 2N
CPU VID-1.475
CPU/NB VID- 1.275
CnQ- off
C1E- off
LLC- High, it gets me closest to the voltage I choose to give the CPU

However even these settings became unstable when I added the Kingston ram in my sig. That ram was salvaged so I figured why not. Now all of my memory runs at 1333 but I don't notice a difference, however I don't know what the timings are now.

EDIT: I think I thread jacked, sorry, but I think OP gets the fact that he can't overclock safely on that board. Sorry for interrupting OP, glad you got your problem sorted. Also Flash who were you addressing? You quoted me but said OP.

Whew, thanks for all the help guys, really. My temps are fine; they never go higher than 52~53C on max load. It's just this limited motherboard as Fir stated.

Just watch those VRM's. That board doesn't have a very good reputation for them.

its just bad luck man, it sucks - you got a cpu/mobo combo that just doesnt OC very well

Yup, just gotta learn and do more research next time.

Going with the Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3. It's funny how something almost the same exact price is so much better than the MSI.

Just an update. So my 990FXA-UD3 motherboard came in and I am running on it now. Absolutely hate the FC ver. BIOS on this thing, but it's a good board.
It had given me an option that I don't believe was on the MSI board, the ability to run with a certain amount of cores. Howvever, I think I have found the TRUE culprit to the problem:

I had aised the voltage to 1.55 on this new board and it still kills all my programs. I noticed that the 4th core always fails in Prime95. So I disabled the 4th core in the BIOS and now I'm running smooth on 3 cores at 1.475v and 4.0 Ghz. Is there a possibility of the 4th core being defective?

No, most likely all of your cores are working properly. I have the same CPU and board and I can only hit 3.8 Ghz with 1.45 volts. Load Line Calibration works best on High. I can hit 4 Ghz with 1.536v but that is way to much for my hyper 212. Now I would recommend enabling the fourth core and just go for 3.8, you will see more performance there than you will with 3 cores at 4.
