Convince me not to buy this TV

Thread Starter
Ok...I've been looking at this TV for about a month now. I really dont know that there is a better TV for the same price. I trust the Vizio name after my old roommate got one a few years back..was a good tv. And I've seen this one in stores...really nice picture. And I think it is IPS
But is there something better out there for $600 or less in 46" minimum? I'm a 1080p pc gamer so I really dont need anthing with a higher resolution. I dont need to us the PC IN port on this right? I can just use the HDMI connection?

I would bring a laptop to the store and check for a lag delay on a panel that large. nothing worse than a lggy TV for gaming, (coming from someone with a laggy 42 inch tv) =)

EDIT: and its also 120hz but for whatever reason the way they achieved 120hz is useless to me because of the input lag

Vizio makes/uses outstanding panels and their products are definitely top notch. The ultrabook of theirs that I have has been awesome. You will have no issues using standard HDMI into the thing, but it may offer VGA as well. It's a very good deal.

Now enough about the TV.

Is it financially wise at this time for you to purchase this?
Are all other liabilities that you have that should have first priority over it already handled? (Car repair/maintenance, taxes, mortgage, rent...)
Are you debt free?

If you answered YES to all of these, and you have a desire for it, then buy it. If you answered NO, then don't.

Yes, check out the input lag for sure. I use a 46" Samsung with low input lag (for a TV) and it works great. I have a 52" Sony Bravia with "120 Hz", and the input lag on that thing is terrible. A friend and I spent hours playing with the TV settings and using the PS3's compensation options, and still could not get Rockband playable. It has an amazing picture though.

what would be the best way to test the lag with the laptop? I have one with no games or anything. Would something like a windows game work?

I have this unit and I love it. Its also $48 cheaper and free shipping/no sales tax.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16889005378

Also if you buy it thru fatwallet.com you can get up to 2% back that comes via PayPal. All you would have to do is sign up and click on cashback and then newegg. (please note I do not work for them). I have saved over $150.00 just by clicking in thru their site.

EDIT: I apologize if I am breaking the TOS or anything just, thought Id help the OP save another 10.50 or so.

Not really. If you have debt or other things to buy, the TV is totally out of the question. If you've got all those handled, then we can talk. smile.gif

Vizio is awesome. You won't be disappointed.

I appreciate it. I dont use credit cards anymore and have found that using cash for everything has kept me pretty secure financially. I wish my hair would grow back from all the stressing I used to do about debt. wink.gif

But I'm curious about the lag comments. I'll have to check it out.
