Thread Starter
Here is the Official Specs for the Playstation 4 from Sony themselves.

https://secure.webassets.scea.com/pscomauth/groups/public/documents/webasset/feb21/pdf/playstation4_specification.pdf

And here is a Comparison Between the PS3 and PS4 Specs Side By Side
post #2 of 42
Even tho the PS4 specs dont seem like anything special to us PC games, the spec upgrades from the PS3 to PS4 are dramatic. Im curious to see how far they will go with it in terms of graphics.

I wonder now that the console will be able to finally push beyond 100 year old direct x 9 graphics, will developers start making better pc games as most multi platform games are direct ports of each other. So a lot of pc games are exact copies of console games with no added umpf.

The other thing Im wondering is , will there be any new games or are we just getting call of duty 45 and metal gear solid 50. The same old games with a new coat of paint. Now we can have devil may cry hd hd hd ultra remix 30.

hope it will support 1440p and above resolutions

More likely a modified version of OpenGL 4 or something along those lines, but it will certainly offer graphical features similar to what's on PC right now, and possibly some that we don't have yet (for instance, the 360 had a couple of DX10 features, while PCs only had DX9).

An 8-Core x86 platform meant for gaming, with partner developers making software especially for that machine ? HOLY S.... This makes me wonder about software optimization for multi core PC's, we should be seeing those be more and more mainstream and a norm in the world of gaming soon I think. Also, PS3 had an application for Folding@home, oh so very curious to see what the PS4 will push there !

If Stanford ever manages to get a halfway decent AMD/ATI client working, it should be a pretty nice folder; according to AMD and Sony, the APU does a combined 1.86 TFLOPS compute.

That should be pretty good actually then. I've seen early videos of some PS4 games, and they're real nice. "Killzone Shadow Fall" is looking great, and I really hope "Deep Down" turns into a full game...

I can see the PS4 being a very powerful machine at release. 8-core architecture based on bulldozer (even though it's Jaguar) means that we will hopefully start seeing fully optimized multi-core game support.
