Would upgrading my CPU Cooler allow a higher overclock?

I have been thinking about upgrading my CPU cooler because I heard Deneb chips scale more with low temps than they do with voltage. Is that true? If so that could be a solution to my incredibly stubborn CPU that demands more voltage than it should. So would it be worth it? Please don't tell me to upgrade my CPU, I would like to hold out until Steamroller.

I was told from the beginning if any over clocking you should use a better then stock cooler. Just my 2cents.

lol that's not what I meant, I'm using a 212+. I just heard that Phenom II's clocks scale with how cold they are, for example my load temps are 49C say with an H100i they would be 36C, would I need less voltage to achieve the same clocks is what I'm asking if I upgrade my cooling?

For the most cases no unless you go extreme cooling.

Oh, that sucks lol. Thanks for answering, I saw someone upgrade to an H100 and require less voltage than they did before. In fact I thought the theory was that average air cooled CPU's require much more voltage than liquid. I don't know if an H100 was what that statement intended lol but either way, it would be cooler than my 212+ gets it.

My bad. I guess I did not read into that too well.

H100 is way better then 212+. H100 is about the same as a NH-D14 and the H100i is 5c cooler then the H100.

Yeah, I know. I was just curious as to whether or not getting one would allow my chip to overclock a little bit more...normally...

Phenom II/Athlon II/FX chip love the cold, so Yes the cooler you keep them the higher the possiblity for a good oc on them.

EDIT
What is the speed, voltage and core temp on your cpu?
