use msi after burner or sapphire trixx

http://www.overclock.net/t/641299/guide-to-enabling-unofficial-overclocking-in-msi-afterburner

for coil whine did you try leaving a heavy workload (where coil whine is max) running overnight .

Mine has a little coil wine in menus but in-game it is fine. I am not sure I would leve it running in a menu to 'kill' the whine, that seems like throwing fuel onto the fire, but I am not sure. HIS are great cards and can overclock like champs.

Make sure, if you run MSI afterburner/Rivatuner that you run TriXX after you start all of that up. When you overclock make sure to disable ULPS in Trixx and it should run great.

so use both and or just one?

do u ever use iTurbo to overclock?

what about some guides to voltage / clock settings or is there only 2 settings i should be altering ? smile.gif i dont want to blow my card because i overvolted it or anything like that at this point im fine running stock

i havent left card running full workload but ive been running 12 windowed games that is giving it a small whine to see if that dissapears

if it doesnt im going to leave diablo or battlefield in main screen on maximum settings unless you guys have another game that should hit the card hard smile.gif

even the silent coil whine is annnnnnnnnnoying, makes me want a lower performance card because my watercooled computer is getting rattlesnaked by a "high end" card

smile.gif well you can kill the whine it seems with one way or the other, but all of these cards seem to have some level of "whine"

so what is the best way to OC?

OC max core/memory on stock voltage?

is touching voltage a death trap? is it honestly going to fry my card 75% faster or is there a "safe limit" like we have on CPU's?

id like a boost out of the card, but i dont want the boost to be less than the life span decrease

if you have this card please hold my hand !

just got my HIS 7970 installed (after a major pain in the ass because my LC loop was in the way completely, cant wait to re do it again to add the new card lol).

1200/1700 stable at stock voltages.

mother of god this thing has some coil whine. I feel like im at the world cup.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

but yeah, as far as overclocking, this thing is a monster, 1200/1700 on stock voltages and im just getting started. also got a 8350fx when i bought this, gonna try to push it as far as i can lol.
