- Real ending DLC: Haha we've just screwed with you guys, the ending was fake, here is the real ending, only 29.99 !

- X Game Premium: Golden plated triggers, ammo packs, real ending DLC, unlimited life in MPs, you have the right to ban players who killed you MP ! Only 59.99 !

Yep, this is the dark future of gaming.
Person 1: "Oh look, it's raining."

Person 2:"HOLY ****, STOP! IT'S TOO SOON, I DON'T HAVE MY ARK READY!!!?!"

Person 1:"Huh, it's already stopped raining, damn Texas weather." rolleyes.gif

They're doing it because it works insanely well in Star Wars Old Republic. People are spending far more on stuff from the store, most of it cosmetic only, then they ever would have for a subscription. It's crazy, but people do it.
The only reason a company would do this is if they see that they can milk more money out of the customer than with 60$ titles. Which will obviously be the case.

Imagine getting a kid addicted to a game... Kid gets 20$ Spends it on game.
Month later or two, kid gets 20$ .. spends it on game
Birthday.. kid gets 50$ spends 40$ on game.

and there you have 80$ in less than a year and counting. Get them addicted and they'll be unable to resist paying.

Nice. A game trainer can fix that like it did with Dead Space 3....infinite free upgrade items never felt this good....

It's just depends on how its implemented. I personally have no problem with microtransactions as long as they're not so enticing that it becomes a "buy it or not level/play as efficiently" situation. For all we know, EA could add simple things like skins or a gun mod that doesn't unbalance gameplay. It all just depends on how EA implements it.

This argument basically means that at best micro-transactions have no impact on gameplay, if implemented "correctly" they are simply a business decision that will generate more revenue for the same games.

At worst it ends with either pay to win or games designed from the ground up to be annoying to play. The mobile phone games market is an excellent preview of this style of game design.

Either way, I do not think something that "at best" has no real impact is a good direction for game design to head in.

Yea, BF3 was the last EA game for me, no worries, there is plenty of games to play.
its not the end of the world it let people with more money then time get what they wont out of the game
most of the thing they sell are cameos ,costumes, or weapons for MP earlier instead of having to work for them
and if it turns in to pay to win then do not play that game but a lot of game have this already and stay balanced
team fortress, gears of war, hell even the Sims you can spend money to buy crap for your game or play it with out it

29.99 for a DLC shortcut to have all weapons unlocked on release day for BF4 would be great
