edit: actually these could be what the steam box will be based on...

The MSI GX60 has the 7970m [underclocked 7870] with the A10-4600m. I considered it for a little bit, but the CPU is on par with processors at the end of their usefulness as far as gaming goes. I always wished it had another two cores as there is quite a CPU bottleneck.

A hexcore of at least 2.5GHz ...maybe a little turbo boost action, 8GB and a 8970m , keep it under $1350 and slap a GX70 sticker. smile.gif

I know it's probably impossible but just imagine if it had 7850 level graphics with unlockable shaders, and some way of using GDDR3/GDDR5 ram. HHHNNNNNNNNNG.

Well, since Crysis 3 can take advantage of many threads, the binned PS4's APU would be the perfect budget Crysis 3 gaming chip. Just make sure to include a quad channel 2800 MHz RAM with low latency setting, because even a binned 7850 is going to be bandwidth hungry.

Even if two or four cores were disabled, one could still OC the chip past the 1.8 GHz.

I'm interested if the binned APU ever shows up in a high performance laptop. That would rival the standard Intel + mid-range mobile GPU laptop build, potentially creating a gap in Intel's mid-high range laptop market if AMD has the proper marketing and production.

It would cannibalize an even larger market share if the APU supported quad-channel 2400 MHz DDR3 RAM, or better yet DDR4 RAM.

I'm not sure. Perhaps AMD might sell the binned PS4 APU as an A10+?

I guess we will finally see more games arriving with DX11 eye candy and HD textures now that the new Sony and Microsoft game systems have been updated
I think that the PS4 will port games to the PC market faster now that they have given up on exotic multi chip designed hardware
for now , I will be sticking with my Sager laptop, I sold my PS3 3 months ago and I dont intend to buy another one
I think the fact that the PS4 and XBOX have 8 GB of VRAM should really open up the possibilities for the game programmers, no more pop-up or confined spaces
think of the day when you can take your fighter jet to 40,000 feet in BF3

Or, alternatively, games can now be designed for PC and ported easily to consoles. Like Watchdogs for instance.
