It is x86......

Yeah I know this but with Windows, developers are limited to what they can do since they have to go through API's like directx. They don't have this problem with consoles.

That's the point I'm making.

APIs have absolutely nothing to do with the chip in use, so it doesn't really matter a whole lot.

Though the games will run slower, as they have to run in top if Windows, if that's what you mean.

There's almost no chance that they will release the same silicon, anyway, as the PS4 doesn't use traditional RAM, but rather a 256-bit GPU interface. I doubt they'd have manufacturers sell unusual "APU-only" RAM Sticks.

Most likely, it'll be "closely related," which could mean higher CPU clocks and lower GPU specs, in order to match the RAM bottlenecks.

Because the PS4 APU has an IGP that is most likely between a Radeon 7870 and 7850. Even a binned/down-clocked 7850 is quite powerful for an APU, and especially for a laptop.

The APU also has four true cores with a total of eight integer units. The A10-5800k has only two true cores and a total of four integer units.

It's essentially a FX 4-modules CPU with a 7850 glued together.

Low TDP

Powerful on-die graphics

Near silent operation in my HTPC

Cheap

What's not to like?

It will be rocking 8 Jaguar cores (I predict 1.6 to 1.8 GHz range), and it will be packing 18 GCN compute units which is 1152 stream processors. So it will be packing a little bigger punch then an HD 7850.

Once AMD offers these up for sale to desktop users, im sure these specs will be cut down big time. Else expect a $300-400 price range to purchase one.

You mean like SandyBridge-E?

We've had quad-channel (256-bit) in the enterprise space for a while now, and even in the consumer market.

I'm a bit on the surprised side that Trinity doesn't support quad channel since it's so RAM dependent.
