Steve Jobs not only served as a horrific manager who took credit for the things his overworked employees did but also neglected his own child. Frankly, Gates gave back to the world and turned it into a new generation, Jobs just helped in starting it.

I don't mean to attack Jobs...but he wasn't an engineer. IIRC he never coded even. He was a great idea guy though.

I want to see what he can code now just because it sounds too unfair....first he's got enough talent to be a professional athlete and then the talent to code? I just want one talent. frown.gif

So rather than give a person the chance to demonstrate otherwise we should assume that Calculus is just out of reach for most people? I'll share something humiliating with you...I took what was about Calc2 in high school and got just an ok 28 on the ACT...and I'm the only one of my friends without either a college degree and/or a job paying 50k or more a year. I'm not smart by most of the worlds standards and I'm sure my IQ isn't far from 100..yet I could do calculus. I'm sure that if people actually kept raising the standards in what is taught in classrooms instead of some arbitrary tests they'd see some change. Want to teach something applicable to every day life...get a kid an Adrino or similar kit and have him program with it. Better yet let him tinker around in an OS that promotes such though like Linux or on hardware designed like the Pi.(

yea, calculus aint a thing if you don't suck on the other stuff below it. most of math in school up to your first or second year in college is this sort of memorizing methods and daily practice until you sort of understand how and why but you can spit it out in seconds.

Probably the reason I suck at university...I only learn by rote (lot's of practice) it seems.

I suggest you go find and read books on the early days of the personal computer because you have it all wrong. Gates is a programming genius and Jobs pawned off most of his actual engineering work onto others. Don't get me wrong, Jobs was a genius too, but his genius was not in engineering. Wozniak on the other hand...

So what do you do now? I am an EE student and while i LOVE analyzing electric signals...it takes too much time for me because of the courses I chose. I am afraid I might not like being in a lab all day and spending stupid long hours away from friends/family

yeah me too. I never really understood it. I just memorized how to do em. I always assumed thats why math majors do. Understand it and us engineers use it to solve stuff
