It's a shame really because even though I'm using intel, I want to use an AMD cpu...
Hopefully they find a way to bring out some incredible performance next gen

Hmmm....

So you are one of the bashers?

You care about the few percentage headscratch.gif

At muuuuch lower pricepoints.

Well actually clock for clock technically intel still wins. Clock the 3770k to 4.0 like the 8350 and it will outperform it. Though it's still nice to see some games allowing BD to stretch it's legs. Honestly with AMD winning the console market i can see optimization going AMD's way, not so much CPU as GPU but it does seem like it could happen. If AMD could just somehow step up single threaded performance BD would been a huge win, it's almost as if it's ahead of it's time because they're good processors for heavy threaded apps.

No, where in there did I state that?
I said that because the 2500k was out first so I got that and there wouldn't be a performance difference worth the sidegrade price for me to go AMD right now.

Completely different architectures, you can't compare clock for clock. You compare stock, average overclock, and max overclock. In this case, it so happens that the max overclocks are roughly the same, so the IPC differences do matter. If they weren't, IPC comparisons are meaningless.

Hope for another AMD64... or at worst Phenom II (decent mid range price offerings performing like i7-800 series , crap high end that can't match i7-920/930)

I mean nobody really bought i5s over Phenom II x 4 Black editions til Sandy Bridge , because only the socket 1156 i5-655k (dual core hypertthreaded) & i7-875k was unlocked.

Finally upgraded my 6970s CF to single 7970 OC. Free games did the final push. Not have to worry about CF profile is such a big relief. Can finally drive around in Sleeping Dogs without stutter....

I've always measured comparison of CPUs based on clock vs clock but i see your point.
