Promos vs. Micron

Thread Starter
Eh... A well asked question, looking for official answer...

I just bought Corsair 1024-6400PRO from NewEgg.com I feel that they ripped me off, because in the reviews and pictures it shows that I was going to get XMS6405v1.1 which is Micron D9 Rev. D, I recieved XMS6405v4.2 which I'm sure it must be Promos (version 1.x = Micron, version 3.x = Infineon, version 4.x/5.x = Promos)...

How bad is Promos, all I hear is bad **** about it, it can't be that horrible, I know it doesn't OC as good as Microns, but how bad can it really be...

Does anyone have Benchmarks of Controlled RAM switched were the only thing being changed in OC'd/Non-OC'd Promos vs. OC'd/Non-OC'd Microns...

Not OC'ed, they should perform the same as long as they're at the same timings and speed

OC'ed, the Micron can clock higher and with tighter timings

Micron GMH/GKX can clock to 1000mhz+ and still have them at CL4, farthest I've seen Promos go is 1000mhz with CL5

Honestly they aren't as bad as people are saying they are. The Micron D9 is much better, but the Promos are decent.

They're decent if you get them at the appropriate price, paying D9 prices for them is terrible though
