crossfire question with Asus board

Thread Starter
I just had a question as I'm looking at my new card today. It has 2 8 pin connectors on it and my Maximus board has a connector on it for running multi gpu setups. I would assume it would be better to run the dual 8 pins on it but Asus seems to know what they are building so I'm not sure now. Which is the better power option for the cards?

You have to run the video card with both 8 pins connected. If you have only one connected (even with the other connected to your mainboard) then it's not going to work. So just run the two 8 pins connected to the card. The extra power going to the board is really unnecessary, unless you are doing high overclocks with multi GPU setups. That connector on the board is meant to give the PCI-E lanes some extra juice if you're really pushing some GPUs.
