Is oblivion really a good game?

I've read a bunch of reviews and all, but I'd like to know how good it is from some people that have played it. Also how well do you think my sig rig will handel it. The graphics seem demanding for good hardware but thats the reason I'm drawn to it. Another reason is I have a sister that i think might be into the whole middle ages fantacy thing that might like to play it too.

as you've stated, the graphics in this game better than most other games out there, assuming you have the system power to run everything at its max setting. there are also tweaks and free add-ons availale to modify the graphics to your liking or your system's capabilities.

as to the game play itself, it is more or less what you may expect from any modern 1st person action/rpg. the story is your typical hero save the world scenario, and there are more side quest than you can handle (finding them is half the fun). what really set oblivion apart from other games is the fact that there are huge quantities of user created content to download, such as the foremention graphics mod, cloud's AC swords, and other new sidequests/creatures/content.

regarding your system's ability to handle the demands of the game, i believe you shouldn't have too much trouble running the game at a relatively high setting. my system is nowhere near as good as yours, and i can still get decent fps running at high texture, 4xaa, 8xaf, bloom, and max view distance. however, i did had to tweak the setting quite a bit to achieve that result

Oblivion is a great game. I managed to put 120+ hours into it, and I have the attention span of a 4-year-old. It's that good.

Oblivion is the best non-online game Iv ever played I think. If you like RPGs you'll definitely love this game.

Takes a bit getting used to.. I hated it at first but after a couple quests and stuff its really fun.

Your computer will handle it fine. My 6800GS plays on mid settings with about 40 FPS so your 7900GT KO would do much better.

Thank you very much guys! If I get it and I'm sure I will now I'll try to figure out the mods because they do look impressive. I'm typically a online fps kinda guy so the rpg thing is new to me. I'm kinda excited to get it now and see what its like.

I actually didn't even care about the game till the other day when I DL'ed a HD video from someone here. It was only them walking around, but the game looked great so it opened my eyes.

Hehehhe funny man. Ya Oblivion is good, I've put quite a few hours into it and it's great. I've very rarely seen someone say they didn't like this game either, most people dig it . With that vid card, you should be able to get it looking quite nice too.

I believe Oblivion is one if not the only non-on line games that I cared to replay again right after beating it. It took me 250+ hours to beat it the first time around as a warrior, now for the 2nd time, I'm using mods and playing as an archer, what a different game. My point is, Oblivion is one of the best non-on line games I've ever played, you are guaranteed to have an addiction after only a few hours. 1 downside is that your social life will do down the gutter, as you may want to play Oblivion more and more.

I didn't like it. I found it very lacking. I liked Morrowind much better.

I got really excited at first, enjoyed it alot, then got really bored of killing wolves while I ran back and forth running quest errands.
