Besides this and a few other small complaints, I enjoy Oblivion very much. Dude, just go and read some reviews, it's an awesome game. 6.5 out of 10? No way, it's alot better than that.

And also, comparing the fighting system of morrowind to oblivion to me is crazy. I didn't play morrowind very much because the fighting system was so incredibly boring to me. Granted, I think they could have made the fighting system a little more exiting in oblivion, but it's way better than morrowind for that. And just crabs and rats to fight? Well, OK man, I don't know where your character is going, but I've fought multitudes of different kinds of enemies. Anyway, put it this way, way more people love oblivion than don't.
Lots of people like WoW too...

After logging maybe 300+ hours of Oblivion, I'd give it a 8.8. I'm conclusion, Oblivion has to be one of my favorite and best games I've played.

Pro's
1.Oblivion has the BEST graphics. period
2.replayability(is that even a word)
3. Numerous quests and decent guilds
4. With mods, numerous variations or armor and weapons
5. Enemies never get "easy", they stay at a challenge. However, by level 45 with my 65% damage reflect, I was pretty much unstoppable.
6. HUGE maps, almost too large.
7. Deadric quests are very interesting. For example, the ending of one quest brings a rain storm of burning dogs.
8.Endless caves and dungeons.
9.At highest difficulty, the game is actually difficult unlike many others I have played...ie FEAR
10. You can fully customize your characters looks and download completely new charecters.....Chuck Norris
11. Being a vampire is pretty cool.

Con's
1. Some "glitches" and not very well thought out quests. An example of this is if you complete the Mages guild first and become the archmage, that ice staff becomes yours right? You then go to the thieves guild, one of the quests is to steal the ice staff. Stealing something you already own??
2. Only like 5 voices
3. "mail-man quests", although this really never bothered me, it seems to bother other people.
4. Main quest is a little short......ok very short.
5. Should be more variations to races.
6. Being a vampire can really, really suck also.

Oh, too the guy who finished the game in 40 hours. Not to call you a lier, but i highly dought you were to finish the entire game with all of its sidequests, finish every guild, and explore every dungeon/cave.

So? From what I hear, there's some things about it that make it very fun for alot of people. I've never played it, but if so many people like it, how's that make your opinion that it sucks correct? You don't like it, so that's the way the world should spin? Look man, a TON of people love oblivion, including me. I disagree with most of that list of "problems" dude gave too. Some of the things you guys complain about don't bother most people in the slightest, and are even good points of the game in some peoples eyes. This game was designed brilliantly in my opinion, with very few problems, especially for the scope of how large and ambitious the game is.

Hey some people might agree with you guys, and that's great play something else then I guess. But keep in mind you're in the minority, most people love it. And alot of the complaints you guys have, I think are well designed and see nothing wrong with. I'm not saying you guys are wrong, you don't like those things then you don't like em. Me and most other people just won't agree with you.

Hey now, I'm not saying I hate the game, I'm just saying I didn't think it deserved the gushing praises that it got. I believe i said I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10.

And no, I didn't complete the game in 40 hours finishing all the side-quests. I probably did it in about 75 hours, doing most of the major side-quests (asassin quest/arena quest/main quest/mage guild quest). I didn't find the game as 'immersive' as it could have been/should have been.... I gave a pretty exhaustive list as to the problems with the game's mechanics... and I don't think any of those could be viewed as a good aspect of the game.

Its ok to disagree -- but the main poster asked for peoples' opinions of the game and so I gave mine.

There are so many other RPG games which are better -- too bad a good RPG hasn't come out in quite some time!

wow guys I appreciate hearing the truth about this game but really every game isn't totally perfect so I'm prepaired for that but is it worth $49.99? 2142 is full of glitches so saying its much better than oblivion means oblivion must be pretty average. But honestly the only single player story mode game I've played recently (besides gears of war) is HL2. So how does oblivion compare to HL2. I know they are totally different types of game but I mean what kind of impression it left.

I've never played HL2 other than death match, but death match is pretty awesome. However, after playing oblivion (and planning on expansion pack for x-mas), IMO i cant imagine HL2 being as good as a game as oblivion. However, this is only the opinion of one guy, everybody will say something different. In my opinion I believe you should get oblivion with the expansion, I don't think you will be disappointed.

You can have my Oblivion for $20. Its as good as new! I uninstalled it several months ago. Let me know if you want it

RPG is my favorite genre, but I also love FPS games. I think I'm just very critical of computer games in general... my favorite FPS would be Return to Castle Wolfenstein probably....but 2142 is pretty good! I like the unlocks and stuff but I don't like the lack of maneuverability of your avatar.

Very well said Kev. Everybody will have a different opinion of different styles of games. I realize now how hard it is to get an honest answer if YOU will like a certain game as it really depends on what style of games you enjoy/play. I think the only way to find out if you like a game is to play it yourself and find out.

The single player HL2 is pretty good and so is deathmatch. But what makes HL2 so sweet, is that then you can download one of the greatest games ever- Counterstrike:Source......ohhhhhh baby. Counterstrike original and now CS:Source, is the one game through all the others I've played, that I always go back to. If you like FPS and multiplayer, chances are you'll dig CS, like the countless others who play it. Either way, oblivion or HL2/CS, they're both great games and worth the money IMO.

And don't get me wrong kev, I'm not saying your wrong at all and I respect your opinion. There have been games that many others liked, that didn't particularly float my boat too. I'm sure out of the thousands of people who have played oblivion, there are others who didn't like it, such as you. Same with any game ever created. I was just saying that most people really do like oblivion, and one man's trash is another man's treasure ya know? It comes down to what you expect/like in a game, and everyone's frag center of the brain is a little different. My favorites are FPS, large part due to the extreme action of them and the gameplay, among other reasons. But sometimes a game like Oblivion or Company of Heroes is nice too .
