I've not had a day of trouble with OCZ, I like their products and their forums were helpful last time I was there.

I always remember back to when OCZ was new. They were a memory company at that time and were trying to make a name for themselves in the performance sector. If I recall correctly, they supposedly had a bad habit of sending out cherry picked DIMMs to reviewers that performed quite well. What customers received was less impressive. Later on they became a legit performance outfit like the others in the field, but after that they started producing crap again like we've seen these last few years. My brother bought 20 or 30 Vertex SSDs for instance and I think half had failed within a year or something like that. I had some OCZ RAM myself at one point and it failed inside of a couple of years. I read the same kinds of stories from other people all the time, so I don't think it's just me.

I suppose my point is that I'm not surprised. I was always more surprised that they could stay in business when so much of what they sell seems to break.

I hope they stay in business long enough to drag SSD prices down to .50 cents a GB

I believe OCZ is the single company bringing down the prices because they lower theirs because they cant sell it.

Thread Starter
They lost a lot of repeat customers with the way they handled the Vertex/Agility 3 bsod issue during the initial 6 months of release. Anyone here can easily search this site for the sheer silliness that they put owners through, I was one of them.

http://www.overclock.net/t/988085/heres-my-ocz-vertex-3-issue

You don't try selling an enthusiast ssd to an enthusiast and then tell them the issues they are experiencing with their new ssd is their fault for not knowing how to overclock or set up Windows properly. Those people generally don't come back especially when you have so many other ssd makers like Samsung or Crucial with relatively few problems in comparison.

Best RMA I ever had was an OCZ PSU. Sent to a UK centre that forwards them to Amsterdam, I had my replacement less than 3 days from getting the RMA authorisation, which was less than 2 days from me actually sending the thing. They must have sent the new from holland as soon as they recieved the old in the UK.

My agility 3's may not be the fastest SSD's either but they do what they claim to do and cost me a fraction of what other brands did at the time.

So would be a shame to see OCZ fail as they do keep prices low and offer some decent products.
