Poor server specs only pile on to an already existing problem. It's safe to assume that in order for them to perform a full fix of this problem they'll have to redo the entire engine which they will not do. Little patches here and there won't solve the problem. That's why I can sit here and call these fixes nothing more than speculation. We'll be waiting until ArmA4 for the actual fix.
To be brutally honest here the only problem bigger than the FPS issue is the people that settle for a broken/unfinished product which is a huge problem that has been plaguing the gaming world for years. Had I known a few months ago what I know now I wouldn't have bought ArmA3 and no one else should have either. Stop rewarding developers for poor development.
I got news for you buddy
the ARMA community has known about this "problem" for about 10 years
we buy the product because it's the ONLY PRODUCT OF ITS KIND. this is what the CoD/BF crowd can't seem to grasp in their head. they keep thinking it's the same type of game... it's not. ARMA is an entirely different genre of game and it's the ONLY game in that genre if properly played.
IF you are fortunate enough to play ARMA properly on the right server, you find yourself HATING the game because of its quirks, but, at the same time it's the ONLY "shooter" style game that is "worth your time". I've always hated ARMA ever since operation flash point. but I've never bothered with CoD/BF. because compared to ARMA, it's just not worth my time to play them. it's like the difference between console games and PC games. once you've been spoiled by good PC games, you really can't get yourself to accept the type of gameplay consoles offer.
it's like all those people who use EA origin/steam/etc, they KNOW it's the biggest spyware to be launched on the the face of the planet, but they gotta get their battlefield fix. so they install it even tho you read about all these "unnecessary" game sites get hacked all the time and your credit card / personal info are floating and sold around the internet on a daily basis.
what it comes down to is just because YOU were ignorant about the problems with ARMA, doesn't mean the ARMA community are. the ARMA community love this game. even with all the quirks and flaws because it's the ONLY GAME OF ITS KIND. those who do not understand WHY it's the ONLY GAME OF ITS KIND, please.... kindly pick up your bags and leave the war room.
