I think Red Orchestra would've been perfect for it, I'd play it more if it supported it... ah well, I guess it'll stay a niche thing for us ARMA players(maybe when the oculus rift becomes popular it'll start getting support?).

As for the people on the forum, it was a mix between positive and people who were talking about Crysis. Not really sure what you're saying there.
It'd be good for competition, but it's probably not ever going to get anywhere... not like how ARMA has, I doubt it's ever going to get out of military contracts.

It really is mindblowing how blindly in love some of you are with BI. You're looking past years of obvious poor development and forcing yourselves to like the games because they're so much different than CoD and BF and when any gamers living in reality point out the issues you insult them. Some of you should probably take a break from gaming if it is influencing your personality this drastically.
To be fair, it's a unique game(very few can claim they are milsims, none compare to ARMA) and the development isn't exactly poor, it's just incredibly complex... plus a total rebuild would take YEARS, time that BIS both cannot afford and really doesn't need to do(everything works, right?). In saying that, I wouldn't be surprised if they are working on a new engine by now, it's a heavily upgraded version of the original engine from OFP days.. they are getting to the point now I think where they can't feasibly just tack more stuff on.

PR was good, I'm not going to deny it, but it really didn't compete with ARMA in the first place, it was like a bridging game, that one step between arcade shooters and milsims. Now I'm not saying ARMA III is milsim, because I personally feel it's only half way there, we need mods like ACE and ACRE to get that next step up(which I cannot wait for after playing ARMA II with ACE and ACRE for the last year or two).
