It's factual though, except for the "engine is crap", which is an opinion tongue.gif.

Unfortunately a lot of people who don't seem to have ever followed a game from an early stage are now being exposed to it, and making assumptions. Just because it's in Alpha doesn't mean everything can change- they are way past the point where they would have made a change to the engine to fix the CPU?GPU usage issue. That would have had to have been done pretty much first thing, before there was any playable product at all.

We're going to get tons of people incorrectly saying "It's an ALPHA it'll get better", when the truth is "It's ARMA, live with it." tongue.gif

well good thing is, they have our money now and can use it to make it better before actual release. HOPEFULLY

we also don't have optimized drivers for it yet either. hope that has something to do with it as well.

the problem with how they are "marketing" ARMA3 is that they have the wrong target audience playing their game biggrin.gif

BIStudio's target audience has always been and will likely always be guys like these

they don't really care if the fog density doesn't look just right. they care if bullets are going to come through that fog and which tree will actually provide cover instead of just camo. smile.gif

this is a mil sim. BIStudio cares MORE about how long it takes for the bullet to travel 1000m and have the acoustic signature match that impact to sound travel delay then trying to squeeze that extra frame out of your hardware... they are in the business of making sure your 100 man company all see that same bullet impact at the same place at the same time over the area of a few cubic miles... that's the priority of a mil sim... not oh pretty blood splattered on my visor so i cant see shiet for 3 seconds till the blood and dirt automagically disappears biggrin.gif

do they care how their game looks? if you have played operation flashpoint, arma, arma2, then you would know yes they do.. do they care about how their game performs? granted it's not optimized to use 100% of your hardware, but as far as gameplay, I have not personally find it lacking to accomplish what the game is meant to do. this is NOT twitch based gaming. you either plan your moves and shots, or your buddy behind you is washing your brain and guts off his boots. the consequences of "taking a bullet" in this game is far more dire then your typical rambo shooter till you cant see shiet on your viser so you have to hide behind a car for 3 seconds till the blood and dirt automagically disappears type of game...

it's just seem so suffocating to see all this whine about things that are "less important" to a sim type game then a twitch type game. you arent going to get fragged because the red team ran behind you and knifed you and took your tags. you are going to die from that enemy tank that you can barely see dropping a 120mm HEAT shell on you because someone screwed up and they noticed you were there biggrin.gif and yah hiding behind that tree is not going to save you from a 120mm HEAT round biggrin.gif

Arma 3 is much closer to twitch than arma 2 was.

yes, but it is first and foremost a mil sim. they are trying to impress the US ARMY not joe shimo who grew out of CoD biggrin.gif

CAN ARMA be played like a twitch, absolutely. as a mil sim, it is their responsibility to provide an environment to simulate CQC so actual soldiers can train in those environments. however when someone is sweeping a building or a street, they aren't worried about how pretty that grass looks or if MLAA is working their vid card hard enough or if the game would support TressFX biggrin.gif you are wearing a helmet. so is everyone else. you don't NEED TressFX biggrin.gif

reminds me of all the whiners who want 80 Frames when their monitor can only display 60... if the game is really that disappointingly slow, then move on. go play tomb raider or crysis3... or just go back to BF3 and planetside for some coop missions. try out ghost recon online... anything but ARMA3 it's not made for the type of gamers who cant play a game if their machine isn't pushing out 60 decibels of fan noise and they have to wear a headphone just to hear the game biggrin.gif

My game seemed to actually be running smoother last night after the patch and my only performance complaint so far has been the lack of an SLI profile holding me back but I know that will come in time.

FYI for those of you playing wasteland, you don't have to get in and drive every vehicle you come to in order to access the gear Get into the driver's position, move to the passenger position, mouse wheel scroll to gear, load up silently without everyone knowing what you're doing. Hell i've gotten geared up this way a couple of times as enemy players have ran up to the Efrit I was in trying to check the gear only to have me pull away because they never checked the non-running vehicle for players.

I'm really not sure why, but in ARMA 3 seems much easier to fly a helicopter with a keyboard, than any other game I've played.

I've not played much yet as multiplayer is my thing for these games and not many people in my time zone with it. I've not found any problems with it though, aside from the occasional graphical bug and running into an in-game error message once that didn't affect anything.

it's actually harder to fly a helo in ARMA then other games because you actually have to stick the landing instead of just eject like other games biggrin.gif

Been using TrackIR 5 for the past week. Check it out if you haven't already. It makes ArmA so much more immersive.
