Runs terribly for me, < 50FPS = bad, not even considering the random server lag on most servers.
Night time looks good though

That's awfully rude. Have fun with BF4 and it's mods; oh, that's right, you'll get DLC instead.

If you don't have an interest in Arma 3 or it's predecessors stay out of this thread.

To be fair, all the ARMA games are just an updated OFP tongue.gif

having someone watch your back and vice versa is what makes ARMA a great game.
This so very much, I play on a pretty big public ACE server and a few days ago I was in a squad that was amazing, we carried our team right through the game(which was ~2 hours). What did we do? We stayed together, watched our backs and only fired when it wouldn't put the whole squad at risk(SD weapons only if we hadn't been seen). We engaged OPFOR first every time except once, and we got all of the objectives(whereas everybody else made no ground at all). That sort of teamplay is what makes me keep on coming back to ARMA...

Thank you for comparing this game to another that is completely different and not even trying to compete with it...

Are you guys even reading through the thread?

You realize he is trolling the guy he replied to right? The guy complained about 50fps (which is pretty awesome for arma) so he kindly directed him towards a game that would provide him with what he was looking for. thumb.gif

This guy has been here arguing pro-arma and milsim for a while now. Here is one of his quotes from just one page back....

most people come in with expectations of a FPS. not a mil sim. it's the wrong type of game for most people who complains in this thread, they just refuse to realize it. it's unfortunate but most people who are new to ARMA series don't even know how to shoot a gun properly. not to mention ACTUALLY learning how to use the optics. there is a reason why majority of ARMA fans have a military background. they actually know how to shoot already, and for the most part they have learned how to communicate effectively in battle. biggrin.gif

biggrin.gif didn't think i had to explain that one biggrin.gif

edit: I suppose that's where the problem resides. the fact that people in this thread took what a said seriously meant that people are still looking at ARMA as a FPS... hence all the complaints about frame rates and not enough about how to actually play ARMA proper. when i 1st started ARMA i thought the learning curve was like a cliff. it's supposed to be REALLY hard to get used to the style of gameplay. yet all the complaints are abut frame rates instead of the really crappy, difficulty to use, none intuitive command UI system biggrin.gif

Also I have a very similar rig to him and on 45 player wasteland servers I average around 50 fps. I can get down to 30-35 in certain situations so there obviously is some optimization that can be done. Even so the game runs a whole lot better in beta than it did in alpha so they seem to be working on it.

My framerates on average, this is me, all alone in Kamino, the coop mission, like nothing is going on.

Note how the view distance is set to 12k but you can perhaps see ~2k
And it doesnt really affect performance much, object distance does, but then everything looks ugly.

Dropping down AA to 0 does nothing.
Dropping down shadows, clouds, PiP or dynamic lights does nothing noticable.

Hope they add variation to the trees/bushes though, kinda annoying seeing the exact same shaped 2D blobs everywhere.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

In multiplayer on the insurgency or whatever theyre called, basicly players vs random objectives with AI I can go as low as 15 fps.

What's your 2500k running at? My 3930k had a load on all 6 cores and one would still constantly max out. (only have it at the stock speed though)

And that 2GB VRAM may very well be enough, and the game is just reserving more than it needs for me, but I see a pretty steady load of 2600MBs on my 780. Not sure if that would be affecting anything for you.

I was more annoyed that you were comparing it to the battlefield series, as a long time player of both series(less BF these days though) they are nothing alike... the only thing that's similar is that you occasionally shoot stuff, the way you get to that is completely different. I don't care about people talking about FPS, as long as they know why it isn't as good as other games, there is so much going on under the hood it's to be expected.

wasn't meant as a comparison, more of a "please leave because you are in the wrong genre of game" sarcasm biggrin.gif i can't believe people took what i wrote seriously... which is why i put the edit into my comment indicating that may be the root of the problem. too many people are still seeing ARMA as a FPS. i wonder what percentage of people playing ARMA actually understand how to use the various optics in the game, or understand the acronyms used during gameplay in a serious server. i keep waiting for the complaint about why you cant run around knifing people so you can collect their tags biggrin.gif

at this point, it's really better for ARMA to rid itself of all the "transient" FPS players so we can get back to our proper mil sim game.
